It was a quick stay for me - just one night. Close to the centre of Cork and to the bus station. Overall a very good hostel, I would stay again if I came back to Cork!!

We stayed in a 6 bed dorm and the room was no where near big enough to fit 6 beds as well as everyone's luggage so it was pretty crammed. The door in our room also didn't shut and lock properly unless it was pulled hard and we were missing a ladder to the top bunk bed. However, the free wifi in the room was strong which was helpful.

I have been always happy to stay in Bru Hostel, twice a year, those last five years. It's a good hostel, with a pub downstairs for those enjoying a Guinness and Irish live music. ALAN,Frenchman

very stiff mattress and flat pillows (seriously, bring your own), but otherwise the place was grand. in response to some of the other comments, the showers only seem to be warm in the morning, probably because that's when the boiler kicks on. i will say that i was very disappointed that they offered a discount in the bar, but were out of both food and just about every drink i ordered besides generic beer or cider.

For a hostel of your quality and this close to the city centre I was really surprised by its good value. I rated the cleanliness lowest because I found a pack of toasts that had gone quite mouldy and no one seemed to care.

The hostel was nice - it was nice having a bathroom in the room. We drove there and there is plenty of parking garages on the street (from 6 - 10 Euro per 24 hours). My only complaint would be that there is not a lift. If you plan on staying here, pack light.

This is a great Place privacy possible, but also easy to meet locals and travelers.

Located in a bar, so it's noisy to sleep. Beds are small and uncomfortable, pillows are like stone, breakfast is very basic - just plain toasts and coffee. Worse than most of hostels in Ireland we stayed in but better than nothing.

Good value, secure, clean, nice staff and a great bar. Best hostel in Cork city.

The staff was great! We had a heavy snorer sharing our room and they gladly gave us a different room.

Very clean and comfortable, although our dorm was a little cramped. It was nice and quiet-- we couldn't hear the noise from the bar at all.

I would recommend this hostel and would stay here again. We visited Cork during a slow time of year but the bar downstairs would be a fun place to hang out. Easy to meet people and a short walk from the city center. Only complaints are insignificant - Wifi wasn't too reliable and the shower was cold and one of those where you had to push the button every 30 seconds to keep the water running.

The bar downstairs is excellent, and the staff were very helpful. The bathroom was not an ensuite as described but was shared with the room next door. Excellent location

Very noisy if you are unlucky to get a room with a window on the street. The sound from people banging doors travels throughout the hostel. There was a blood stain on my sheet. And the room was extremely dusty.

great location, friendly helpful front-desk staff, comfy beds, showers hot (after running the water for a few minutes). kitchen was a nightmare; however i attribute this to the other guests and not the staff. we are an upper-middle-aged couple and the younger clientele seemed uncomfortable around us, even though the staff didn't seem to mind our age.

Hostel was in a good location and decent for the money. Girls rooms were very crowded, showers did not turn on properly - they had a button you needed to press every 30 seconds to get water out. I don't know why they did this, most people are sensible enough to turn the shower off when they're not using it. Under bed lockers were not compatible with normal locks. I would also suggest putting better lighting in the common area next to kitchen, felt like I was still in the bar.
