Great hostel! Just too bad breakfast wasn't included. Discounts on food in their cafe is nice though.

Budget backpacker is a nice, characteristic hostel. It is definitely a perfect choice for youths as it gets a bar and there are events nearly every night. Rooms and toilets are very clean. However, I got poor stay in the first two nights as other travelers in the same room of mine were very noisy and not respectful. Moreover, the wifi signal was very poor. Also, some males used the ladies' washroom, quite embarrassing. Except these few points, it is a very good hostel!

Great hostel for meeting people. They offer a pub crawl and walking tour both of which proved to be a good means of finding other solo travelers. The hostel well suited what I was looking for and I'd recommend to my friends.

Enjoyed my time at Budget Backpackers, Seemed quite relaxed and had a good overall laid back vibe, The central location is excellent just off the Royal Mile although expect some of the outside background noise that comes with being so close to the centre. Food served at the bar is excellent and good drinks prices, can't say it ever seemed like there was a party atmosphere in the bar but more a relaxed location to chill and enjoy some TV and a beer/whisky/cider/poison of your choice.

Good location and within 10mins walk can go to Edinburgh Castle. The hostel very clean and tidy, just one thing i'm not really like is the light of the shower room (it in the toilet), the light suddenly off when i taking shower, i think they want to saving power, so if the toilet door haven't open around 10mins, the light will automatic off! But the shower room is near the window so still have some light come from outside.

It's a very cool place with very cool people. Shower room can be better though. The lights go off after a while when no one comes in so half of the time I was showering in complete darkness. Plus the hot water is not reliable and can turn icy cold out of a sudden for 5 minutes. The rest are fine. Enjoyed the free walking tour conducted by the hostel.

The location was quite good, in Grassmarket. It has a well equipped kitchen but not that clean to be honest. Nice common area for chilling out and nice bar downstairs. But the wi-fi was a nightmare. If you have something serious to do with your lap top, you haveto think twice. And the common computers are not free of charge. But in overall it was good.

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. Great location and easy to find. The staff are so much fun- especially Kye! He was hilarious. The free walking tour and pub crawl are great ways to learn about the city and to meet new people. The cafe/bar area had the coolest decor. There were cheap drinks and relatively cheap food at the cafe. The only thing I didn't like was that there were male only bathrooms but not female only (at least that I could find). I would definitely stay again!

The beds were nice, the sheets were clean, and the rooms not cramped at all. The bathrooms and/or in room sinks seemed clean and well maintained as well. The kitchen, however, seemed a little disastrous. Right after I finished cooking though someone came in and cleaned up after the messy people; however, it was a little dubious to make food in the state I found it in. More kitchen checks please. Also there was a case of missing lightbulbs and dubious heaters. Overall: Good for $$$.

The room is clean and tidy but you can't sit straight on your bed cause it is too short. One big problem is that there is no hot water for taking a shower!

An unforgiving partying right next to my dorm a night before my half marathon run, and the staff basically didn't do anything about.I saw there was a big sign in my room to ask people to reduce noise after 10pm, which I assume it applies in every room.I understand it's hard to keep it happens especially weekend.A crazy party next to my room and one of the staff actually went up to the room for different change of money but said nothing about the noise. It last till 2-3am, I heard everything.Bad.

Not a bad place to stay. It's a bit far away from the train and bus station when you're traveling with luggage. And the beds are really creaky. Other than that the place is fun, and close to quite a few pubs and bars. It's a fun place and overall good value for the price

The room we stayed in, room 17 had an awful smell that lingered even if we left the window open the while day.

After some trouble finding the hostel we really enjoyed our stay there. The staff were helpful and the four bed room we stayed in and the facilities were clean. The cafe/bar had cheap food and drinks, and there was something going on there every night we were there. Overall, it's a nice hostel with a good atmosphere!

Was a quite nice hostel in the center. Thanks to Dorota to keep such a busy hostel clean. Wish you a healthy birth and a wonderful child! :)

My friends and I enjoyed staying at this hostel due to it's friendly staff, amazing atmosphere, and great location. The bonuses of the free walking tour and pub crawl made our stay very fun and better used than at other locations. I'm already recommending this hostel to my friends and family and I hope they will enjoy it as much as I did.
