From the moment i stepped into the hostel i could tell it had a great vibe as walls were adorned with posters and was really personalised. Only stayed there for 2 nights and a bit but the hostel was clean, safe and in a great location. The only downside was showers didn't have any hot water both nights! Don't know if it was because i went later in the evening and all the hot water had been used? Anyhow if i was to visit Edinburgh again i would definitely look into booking with Budget Backpackers

This was the first time I had traveled on my own and Budget Backpackers hostels made it very easy to make friends and to see the city on my own. Their location is very central, you can walk to almost anything when you step out their front door. Their free walking tour and pub crawl are wonderful. The common areas are great, and the fact that they have a restaurant/bar downstairs made it so easy to mingle with fellow travelers and get a quick meal before you set off for the day.

It was very nice. The only thing, is that I would like a free breakfast or a more cheaper one.

Now this an awesome hostel-atmosphere is great but you have to keep in mind that I'm a partier-but even if you weren't a partier- there are plenty of areas where you can be quite- chill room with t.v plenty of lay out comfy couches, pillows and bean bags- bar down stairs connected to chill-out area by spiral stairs- bar area is huge plenty of seating, games pool table and ping pong- plenty of bathroom facilities all over the building- free walking tours and pub crawls-just overall awesome times

This hostel was awesome - an easy walk from the main attractions of Edinburgh. Definitely good for young people who want to do a bit of socialising, with pub crawls, quizzes and walking tours. There were always toilets and showers free although sometimes the living areas could get a bit crowded. There is a kitchen area if you're on a budget and want to cook your own meals which is a definite plus.

The room we had (a twin private) was great, it was large and there was heaps of room to spread out in. The only downfall was it was sooooooooo noisy at night. Even though there were signs telling people to be quite it was noisy every night we were there until around 4 or 5am. This made it hard to have a good nights sleep. It also didn't help that there is a pub just up the road and the windows aren't double glazed so there was noise from that as well.

This place is a magnet for party animals. Loud music all night everynight. Hostel has noise advice signs but imossible for staff to implement.

The hostel itself was great couldn't fault it, but that was until you actually want to sleep. The first night the room below us actually bought their own boom box into the room that was playing till early morning and the second night 50 people were partying in the room next to us, we mentioned it to staff a few times and yes they came up each time and asked them to keep it down but as if that worked for more than 10minutes at a time. Seems to me the staff we ok with 50 people in a room
