I'd have to say Budget Hostel is probably the most interesting hostel I've stayed at, since it was a school converted to a hostel. The beds were mattresses on the floor in the school rooms, and the showers were for the gym. The security was the school lockers. Otherwise, it was a decent hostel with a fantastic location just a couple minutes away from Prague Castle. For the price of the night, it was definitely worth it, especially since it was right next to a metro station for my 8 AM train.
I am positively allergic to false advertising by hostels, making browsing for accommodations on website et. al. often times a unnecessarily time-consuming, painstaking and disappointing experience. Had this hostel been up front about not having working wifi, or had the advice 'hang out the 2nd floor windows and steal the neighbours wifi' even been remotely unsuccessful, it would have been fine. But don't check the m@#$÷%g 'wifi' box on all hostel booking sites if it is not accurate.
You get what you pay for. This is a school being rented out in the holidays. Location is just off Charles Bridge which is good. Kitchen is good enough and the showers were warm for a little while. There's no communal area which makes the atmosphere bad. Only wanted to sleep in the hostel, didn't want to spend anytime around it. Also wifi didn't work and it was blamed on a storm - which happened after the wifi didn't work?
