Todo muy bien, salvo que cuando llegue con la reserva me dijeron que el sistema con hostelworld les funciona mal y no les llegan las reservas... por suerte nos pudieron ubicar igual.

Small, social, great terrace. A little noisy however, bathrooms not the cleanest.

Really nice hostel, it's a pity that the bed was probably one of the worst i've seen in my life, the mattress was shockingly bent in a U-shape. Moreover, all the blankets available had massive holes and looked truly dirty and old, something you wouldn't give to anybody, they looked like they had been taken from the curb of a home shelter... The bathroom (incl. the shower) was one of the nicest i've seen in hostels ever. The mattress-blanket issue could be easily solved, please do so!

Owner Comment (Show)
Sorry about the blanket situation! We realized how bad they were and went to order new ones but all of Montevideo shuts down for Semana Santa. There was a delay with the shipping due to the holidays. We have already replaced the old blankets and are looking to do the same with the mattresses. Thanks for your comment! -Matt

I absolutely loved it! The only thing I was missing was a locker. Especially in a city where you shouldn't carry around your valuables all the time I'd like to have a safe space for them. Keep up the good work!

This has the potential to be a really great hostel, it´s too early in it´s life yet to say how it will turn out, but so far so good! Keep an eye on the mattresses, I had to swap mine as I could feel the slats when I lay down.

The hostel is great, huge rooms. Maria checked us in, very welcoming. However the owner was away, due back the next day & things were sort of on hold. We asked another staff member for towels,he said "we don't have any, the owner never got round to buying them." We asked for recommendations for places to see, where to eat, he had no map & had no information to offer. When the owner returned he was more interested in organising a party than helping us,didn't want to even speak to us. Disappointing.

Owner Comment (Show)
Sorry about the lack of attention. Sometimes it can be hard having more then 60 new faces in and out of your house all week every week for several months. Its hard to give appropriate attention to every single person especially in the madness of high season. And as for the towels I just prefer not to rent them because people walk away with the towels. Some hostels do it and some don't. Thanks for the honest comment! Matt

The owner of Buen Camino is a young American guy who makes his hostel feel like a friend's home and not just a place to sleep for a night, although it be that if you want it. The atmosphere is calm, "bien tranqui," as you'll hear in Montevideo, and the most welcoming hostel I've ever stayed in between Uruguay and Spain. Buen Camino is centrally located in Montevideo, so it takes little time to get to any one of the main points of interest, like La Ciudad Vieja, Parque Rodo, or Pocitos Beach.

Buen Camino is a new hostel in a nice, old house in the centre of Montevideo close to most of the sights and a 20 minutes walk away from the beach. The staff was very friendly and gave us a lot of useful tipps about the city. The only two negative things were that inside our room we heard a lot of what was going on in the hall and in the room next door, so it was a bit diffcult to sleep, and the cleanliness of the bathroom could still be improved. All in all, it is a recommendable place to stay.

Nice hostel: it\'s an old house in the centre, reconditioned, with capacity to 16 people. The manager, from the US, lives right there, upstairs, and he is very kind.

Nice place to socialize. Beautiful building. Little noisy at night as the rooms are not well isolated and the noise in the common rooms echoes. A fan in the rooms would be useful. The staff is nice but cleaning doesn't seem to be a priority..

The livingroom atmosphere is so good that it reminds you of home while you´re traveling , with all it´s (dis)advantages. As well, it makes you aware of your journey as you are in the middle of all the great activities organised by manager Matt. The hygiene in the spacy and complete bathrooms is alright but can be improved. Buen camino is that little extra on top of your trip, and your staying is a mix of North American quality and South American atmosphere. This place is, like Matt-crazy, dude!

Found this new, MV hostel very inviting and helpful; good breakfast(although need to get some good coffee con leche going, haha!); comfy bed; clean and quiet. The location is central, which is both good and bad, since one can easily access downtown, buses and the Carnaval parades but the street felt a little dark, for me. Was perfectly safe, though, walking alone, at night, so, perhaps, only perception. Loved the staff, conversation and ambiance! Will return and recommend, also.

The hostel has a really fresh and artsy feel, and it's in a pretty good location in a fun, exciting city. The staff was very helpful and made me feel at home. Overall clean, welcoming, and fun place to stay! I'd definitely recommend Buen Camino, and I hope I get to visit again.

Buen Camino made your stay special because the owner, Matt, just did everything to make us feel home!! he took us to street partys and drum events!! you are not just one of 50 other packpackers, insteed it feels like a big family. we did also barbeceau together, he took us to markets.... the beds are comfortable and the good thing is: the rooms are big and not many beds in there. it takes you twenty minutes to go to the beach and if you know where theres also night life. Thanks to you Matt!!!
