Pretty good hostel with a good kitchen and lounge areas. The staff were friendly and helpful and my room looked out over the lake. It's only a few minutes walk into town which kept it quiet. Most of the other guests seemed to just want to relax and watch TV, so if you're looking for a party hostel, this might not be the right one. You only get one day of free wi-fi too.

Good location close to the city. Only problem I had was that I was on the top bunk & every time the person under me moved, the whole bunk moved with it, otherwise really enjoyed my stay

Described as 6 bed en-suite. Complete lie- room had 3 bunks in it yes, but the bathrooms were downstairs and there were two double bedrooms off the room (no 2) so no privacy and no security whatsoever, people walking through the 'corridor room' every minute. And the 'en-suite' bathrooms used by the 10 people upstairs was also used by other rooms with key access,

I really enjoyed my stay here. It is a nice size and has a relaxed atmosphere. There was a good mix of people and people of around my age (30).

One of my favorite hostels. Only a 4 minute walk from everything downtown and every room has a fantastic view of the lake. Rooms, kitchens, bathrooms were all really nice. They even had extra gas for the grill the night we had a our own bbq. Would definitely stay here again.

The hostel has a great view, infront of the lake, its a 2minute walk to the citycentrr. The receptionist can book loads of activities for a cheaper rate. The rooms are great and some are even ensuite! This is by far the best hostel i ever stayed in in New Zealand. Although i think a keydeposit of 20$ is too much because the focus is on backpackers and not touriats.

good hostel, just a 5 minute walk from the main streets, if you're not into the nomads, base, etc then this is a cool place to stay. Kitchen and TV area were alright and the rooms were clean

Fiona was a real help in booking our bungy jumping and jet boat trips. She also was very helpful in knowing about local places to eat and good shops to get specific things in - like electrical outlet converter plugs etc. I felt very safe in the dorm and the people who were there were friendly and nice. The kitchen was clean enough but would get crowded now and then. Not to worry though. The lounge was a nice place to relax and I did that a few times. Walkable distance from everything.

A nice hostel, quiet, great views, friendly staff, easy to meet people. My room was probably a bit shabbier than the others available but still comfortable. Shame about the expensive wifi $10 for 24hrs!

Stayed here for Christmas. The hostel kindly provided a delicious turkey and chicken for anybody who prepared their own side dish. It was fantastic. The dorms are fab and dvd/tv room exceptionally comfortable and outdoor seating well positioned too. One drawback would be the pricing of internet. But they make up for this by providing free tokens if you make activity bookings with them. One other drawback was the terribly bad attitude of one of their cleaners, Jess from the US/Canada.
