Had an amazing time at Bunchun Guesthouse. Helpful and entertaining staff, great location, close to markets, open and friendly environment making it the perfect place to meet people. Highly recommend staying at Bunchun!!!!

Bunchun is an art project in progress. The space is very creative, there are no clocks, no mirrors but plenty of space to write on the walls. You can do what you want, play music, sing, dance, put on a plastic tutu costume (yes, that is available) just let the creativity flow. Vee is an artist and amazing host. You will feel like you are staying at his house and hanging out in his living room. He took us out and made sure we were taken care of. This is a great place for laid back, creative folk!

A place to go if you're an artist. Vee (owner, gay, ex SanFrancisc) is very helpful & will give u some local advice if u don't know what u're doing. Hostel is an open plan room & u'll share this space w/ 5-7 other people. Each bed is different; there are 2 tents. Yes. tents! Which actually offers a little more privacy than the other beds. An interesting experience + great place to meet a cool peeps. Security is perhaps the main concern + the night bazaar is a 20 Baht taxi ride away or long walk.

Vee (the hostel owner) has really good english and he showed all of us guests around in Chiang Mai. He was more than helpful and really made my stay in Chiang Mai so much better than it would have been if I hadn't stayed at Bunchun! Really friendly atmosphere, very "homie" and a good place to meet travelers. BOOK IT!

Stay at Bunchun and in a few days it will feel like a second home! Buncun has more of a loft apartment feel than a hostel. There are no sterile dorms here, just a cosy room with about 9 beds that are all slightly different (bunkbeds, asian style floor beds...but i don't want to give too much away as it's such a pleasant surprise when you arrive! The atmostphere is like a sleepover with the little communal area and sofas meaning that it's almost hard not to mingle and make friends.

If you\'re up for socializing and a good party - this is the place for you! If you\'re in need of some privacy and down time, this might not be the ideal spot as it is an open concept space. A great place if you\'re feeling creative as you can use the supplies and draw on the walls. There are tours available for booking through Vee but they come with mixed reviews. If you go on the weekend Vee plans a themed party night on Friday, on Thursday night there is a market right next door.

Aaaw, I could only give staff 100% in my rating and Vee, the owner, who gives us 110% all the time. Best host ever, go and you'll end up staying longer then you thought. Bunchun means "my home" and he really makes everyone feel at home and see Chiang Mai from the local perspective!

Bunchun was the best hostel that Ive ever stayed at. The hostel owner is a talented artist named Vee and hes the nicest guy in the whole world. He made me and all the other guests a part of his life for our stay. He has his finger on the pulse of the city and staying at this hostel is not only cheap, but a great way to meet people and experience Chiang Mai

I think anyone new to travelling or Chiang Mai should stay here for 1 night at least but there are loads of places a lot cheaper and closer into the city. Vee the owner was brilliant and I met so many great people, I saw the real Chiang Mai on some nights.

a little hostel with only 1 room so there is a familiar ambiance there, the owner is there always to help you.. not the best facilities but is ok but and a little far from the city. the bad thing is that the price is 50% higher in the weekend...I didn't expect that.

This hostel was not up to the standard that I expected from the previous reviews. The location is very far out from the night market and old city, e.g. 30 mins walk. The open-plan room is made up of 2 beds, 1 bunk and 4 mattresses that are placed on the floor, close together. The room has small and big lockers, some outside the main room. The only lock to the place is on the front gate outside. The two showers have power and heat but the toilet requires manual flushing. Overall very basic.

Where to start. One of the best hostels i have stayed in. Vee is an absolute legend, took us to so many local places which were also v cheap. would never of been able to experience the real chiang mai if it wasnt for him. ended up staying 7 nights and would have stayed more if i could. The hostel only ever has like 8 guests at a time which means as a solo backpacker it was great, met loads of ppl and we all hung out in the evenings.

Vee, the proprietor of Bunchun, is wonderful. He shared his time to show guests more of the local aspects of Chiang Mai. There were invitations to meals and night life. Vee assisted with securing rides and identifying places to be dropped off. Bunchun is not part of the old town (moat) it is located in a quieter part of town. Vee makes guests feel welcomed and is accommodating former guests come back. The experience is worth the cost. Also thai massages, next door, by June are excellent!

I would suggest that any female traveller would feel quite safe here, the host is a very caring and kind person. Chu Chu is the most cutest parrot in the world. Thanks Bunchun, indeed you are a home away from home.

I love this hostel so much! The owner is amazing and it's only a 6 person hostel, so you cant not make friends! All the people who stayed there were so cool. Its basically a massive room, with 2 tents, 2 beds and a bunkbed. This room is also the common room, and there is a tree in the middle that they are building with paper mache. There is hot water and because there are so few people there its very secure. We even went with the owner to his friends birthday party, its was really awesome.

Bunchun was sick! Vee is a bad ass host that will show you around the city and take you to the places that are off the backpacker radar. Thai nightclubs, cabaret shows, and sweet markets. The place is super social and you're guaranteed to meet some cool people. Can't recommend this place enough.
