Bunchun has everything a good hostel needs. Cheap beds, good wifi, helpful staff, awesome atmosphere, and three lovable chihuahuas. Vee the owner was really cool and invited us to local bars, restaurants, and markets. If you want to meet other travelers and have an authentic local Chiang Mai experience, Bunchun is the place and Vee is your man.
Simple, but great staff and atmosphere! Like a second home! The art is the place profile, alot of it! Great stuff! If you ask you can paint 😊 The dogs seems well taken care of and are spoiled with love and attention. the owner have good reasons for sometimes keeping them in cages to let them rest from hostel guests.

Overall the hostel was good! We had a private room which had some awesome artwork but the lights didn't work, and the toiletsituation within the hostel needs to be looked at. The staff were hilarious (as we're the dogs) and helpful!
Wasn't a bad hostel, but I've definitely stayed in better. Staff was okay. Lots of small animals in cages. I wasn't really a fan of that. Staff didn't speak lots of English.
Very cool hostel, right next to the huge night market and not far from everything. Not enough showers though and you're on the floor if you have a bottom bunk. Also a bit weird that they have chickens and little dogs that are kept in cages. But overall an okay hostel ok stay.
Lovely atmosphere but the beds are quite uncomfortable and the rooms are insanely hot. Vi, the owner, is lovely and helpful as with the other staff. It's a really cool place visually but lacks in comfort even compared to other backpackers.
Everything could have been cleaner. But the staff was awesome and organized dinner and visits to Ladyboyshows. Definitely good for low budget and solo travellers because you can easily socialise there. Location is not very good, you need to walk 20 min to old town.

Great hostel. It's a bit too much with all the animals though.
This was a really fun and welcoming hostel! Great hang-out area, easy to meet people and a really fun atmosphere. Definitely a bit unconventional, with all the pets and artwork, but one of my favourite places I've stayed in Thailand!
We had an amazing stay! The owner is so sweet and cool! Everybody is down to earth and the atmosphere is the greatest ever! Since the place is an art café/ hostel we did "artsy" stuff - Like a naked Photoshoot with the owner (in the name of art and NOT porn). So far this have been our favourite hostel during our stay in Thailand.
My favourite hostel in the entire world! Very clean place, and with the best social vibe! Perfect for solo backpackers. This hostel seems to attract cool people too. The owner Vee is the best and takes everyone out to local events to get a true experience instead of touristy places. Lots of great art on the walls and cute dogs in the common room.
Relaxed, nice staff, decent location, good beds.
Visiting this bunchun hostel is third time. every time the owner "vee" welcomed me heartly. he always takes care of my happiness like brother. and suggest going dinner together and good place to visit.
Bunchun is a really great Place to stay at. The staff is really friendly and helpful! The little launch area downstairs makes it easy to meet other people... I had a great time there :)

Didn't enjoy my stay, Mosquitos everywhere, chickens and dogs in cages. Felt unclean with the chickens being in the kitchen. Staff didn't take knowledge we where even there. However the only good thing was the people we meet.
For the money, it was a great stay! There's not really a central lounge area to meet other travelers. The staff was friendly. It felt kind of like a homestay with all the pets around!
We loved this hostel with the cute dogs and chickens. We met some great friends here too. Close to night market. Vee and the gang were very welcoming and helped us with directions and excursions. They even invited us out to a local party. We stayed in a private room so can't comment on dordorms. Only slight negative is there is only 2 bathrooms so could sometimes take a while to shower. Would come back again and stay :-)
I really liked the place, it's just a20 min walk to the city centre. The staff was really friendly and helpfull with tourbooking and activities. They have a litte rooftop where you can just sit, have a beer and relax. If I go back to chiang mai, I will go back to this place
Lovely vibe, really chill and seems to attract nice people. Owner is fun. Dogs are a bonus. Definitely recommend
Pros: hot shower, cute puppies, cheap, good to meet people and close to the night bizaars Cons: the cheaper of the dorms is basically a corridor for upstairs, there is only 1 bathroom, the cockerel which is kept in a cage with a few other chickens all day and night (CRUEL) wakes you up at the crack of dawn, there is no door to block noise from communal area just a mesh screen, beds are on the floor, because of the pets it feels dirty, staff seem somewhat uninterested and unenthusiastic.
