The hostel was great, Staff and cleanliness get an average from me simply because when I arrived I felt the staff behind the counter were more interested in having a chat with each other than dealing with the guests and so a big queue started to form. The staff were very friendly and approachable but I feel if they gave the guests a bit more attention they would feel a lot more at ease when checking in. The Shower curtains were mouldy and needed a cleaning but all in all the hostel was fantastic

The beds were the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on. There had a plastic cover that squeaked every time you moved. The music from the bar was really loud and I could not sleep and not to mention the two cockroaches I found in the bathroom. I can see this hostel has potential but unfortunately my stay there for a night was not pleasant, the staff did not seem very friendly either.

We love Chris, Kole, Hoff and Ben from travel desk. They were really helpful gentlemen. Boys took good care of us and made our stay in Brisbane pleasant. xx

I stayed in a four bed with an en-suite and it was very dirty. The shower was disgusting and the beds old and creaky. The bar was nice but very strict on dress code after 10pm. I am afraid the bar was average for the food they served. The hostel was definitely too far from the centre and I woud opt to stay another well known hostel where my friends stayed.

I enjoyed my stay at this hostel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hostel was clean throughout and the outside area with the pool and bar is very nice. The kitchen was also well kitted out and very clean. The hostel has a great location in between the interesting Valley area and only a short distance from the town centre and the river.

Overall a very good hostel and would stay here again. Very helpful and friendly staff and on-site tour operators helped us arranged a day trip to Morton Island which was great. Security probably could have been improved especially with the luggage store as they didn't seem to have a very good system in monitoring whether it was locked or who was coming and going. Great location to Chinatown and it's bars and restaurants.

Huge hostel, with good character. The location is amazing with a 15min walk to Queens street and only 2min to the great trail system that runs along the river. Staff were good, kitchen was large enough to accommodate everyone. Would stay there again. Unfortunate they didn't have any free lockers. The only ones they had were pay one-use ones so if you wanted to lock anything up, you'd have to continuously pay to get at your stuff.

The bar staff are terrible at serving people in any sense of order, spent ages waiting to get served, even when it's quiet

Overall we enjoyed our 10 day stay at Bunk. The only problems we really had was with our ensuite in our 8 bed dorm - when the night came so did the cockroaches. As our dorm also overlooked birdees, it was hard to sleep most nights, but we knew that would happen before we even booked.

The staircase to the kitchen would need a karcher treatment to prepare people to the expectation that they are to keep the kitchen clean. There is a definite problem with people leaving their dirty dishes behind. The TV room lacks ventilation (smells and stench of the carpet or something) and may be so as well the kitchen although the air con works really well in the kitchen. I was very happy with the professionalism of the staff all around even cleaners and so forth and overall friendliness.

It's close to a train station, many restaurants, a supermarket and about 10 min walk from the city centre. The kitchen is big, but the woman who was washing the dishes was very rude, doing a lot of noise with the plates and pans. The other woman who served the welcome cocktail was rude, too. The bedrooms are ok, I only missed an individual lamp for each bed since people arrive late at night and don't care if you are sleeping or not and turn on the main bedroom's light.

Bathroom light didn't work, eliminating the value of the ensuite rate. Staff did not replace the light when informed and dismissed our concern when we checked out two days later.

At arrival to Roma Street station, we called up the hostel to pick us up (service advertised in the hostelworld page). No service: but we got reimbursed. Upon arrival, the staff was friendly. But the room we received for 40 Dollars the night each was quite disappointing. We were located on the basement with the window towards a parking building, about to meters from a car parking at eye-sight level. Lights so dim that we couldn't read. Carpet smelly, phones not working, bad matresses.

Big place with the feel to go with it. If you want a decent night's sleep then you'd better bring ear plugs. Having said that, it's fun with lots of people enjoying themselves. Thus easy to meet others. Wouldn't go their for the pool or the spa as both are tiney and pretty dirty. The bar is a sticky open-air job and the food is pretty aweful. Staff a friendly but not particularly knowledgable.
