Great hostel would stay again

The showers sucked and the room was insanely hot.. but everything else was incredible! The staff were so lovely, everything was always clean, the social areas were so cool!! Would definitely stay there again :-) cheeky bonus, super close to the train station!

The website says they have wifi and luggage room, but both are lies. The wifi is a heineken free wifi that only works at the bar.

We were not informed of all the rules when we arrived, they seemed odd from my experience in hostels. Would have appreciated a heads up! Otherwise, clean place, nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

this hostel has most things right, but there are some needed improvements. the basement "kitchen" and common room is dark and dank. no one uses it. Room 3 has a triple bunk and two doubles. the triples are too tight and should cost a couple of pounds less. the rooms, 3 at least, are too crowded and have no hooks for wet jackets or a towel. why do the toilets require a card key to enter? good: the bar/common area is really cool, but the drinks are way overpriced compared to nearby pubs.

Was a really cool little hostel, welcoming and colorful and the free breakfast was good. The facilities let it down, just a microwave as far as I could tell and you had to eat downstairs. Also the shower was small and changing space very limited.

This hostel was very cool, there was a great atmosphere downstairs which is decorated with beds, couches, fairy lights, candles etc, plus there's a bar. Lovely location on a street with heaps of bars and cafés and close to sights such as Cardiff castle. I definitely recommend staying here!

I really liked bunkhouse. The location is excellent, staff nice, room large and clean. Downstairs has a nice vibe, cute decor and nice place to have a drink. Close to bus stop too, easy walk.

It felt a bit weird the first night that the hostel was kind of empty, but the bar was full of non hostel people. But all in all it worked out fine.

The location is perfect as it is close to bus and train stations and the main touristic points. The hostel was nicely decorated and extremelly clean. There is a nice bar on the ground floor and regular breakfast (toast and cereal). On the other hand, the shower is really small with no place to hang your clothes so it is very incovenient (and the water was quite cold as well). The beds are also too low and wifi is only available at the ground floor.

Good location, bar area is nice, good music. The bartenders, Zoraiya & Peter were extremely friendly.Michael, at the reception was very accommodating and helpful, genuine guy. There was a couple of other staff who were a bit rude & unapproachable so I just waited to ask the others for assistance.Breakfast was just toast & cereal.Bathrooms were really tiny, no place to hang your clothes.Beds bunks were really low, they were three tiered. They made you have meals in the basement, smelt musty.

There desperately needs to be a fully equipped kitchen. In the meantime a bigger fridge would be really useful

Downstairs common room is just the associated pub and there isn't another common room as well, so on the drinking nights it's either muck in or sit on your bed. Which isn't easy because the space between the bunks is very small. Apart from that it's a very nice hostel. Very good breakfast.

About the shower and toilets, i have to press the button again and again during my shower, and the sinks in the toilets are too small to use! no wifi in the first floor, free wifi is only available on the ground floor. there is no luggage storage service which is inconvenient for people with lots of luggage. the only good thing about the hostel is that it's close to the bus station and cardiff central rail station.

Friendliest staff you could wish for

Place pissed me off. Has a microwave. No kitchen. The bar was filled with locals hittin on the traveling girls. I almost was kicked out because i had food and some wine i was hoping to have to myself downstairs. Yeah that didn't fly. The guy working got all mad, took my wine. Yelled at me for having food in the bar. Which the only way to the "kitchen" was through the bar. Had to eat Burger King because of this joke of a place. Do not come to relax. Lots of screaming outside. No where to relax.

The private space in the basement for the guests is horrible. There is no air flow, it is dark and dingy and the "kitchen" is not a kitchen at all. The main floor and rooms are okay. Some people did not pay attention that the bunks were assigned which caused people to sleep in the wrong beds and caused a commotion at times. The windows provide absolutely no sound proofing so you may as well keep the windows open for air flow. The place is meh and if another was available I would stay there.

Great hostel to stay at for a few nights, nice & quiet in a central location, staff were very helpful in assisting with queries on what to do in the area. The bar below the hostel was really nice a cool place to hang out, quite chilled and not to rowdy.

Allocation of bed space was a nightmare with residents sleeping in other peoples bed which then begins the domino effect. The windows were of a poor standard as sound pollution was clear to all, making sleep near impossible. The smell within sleeping quarters is suffocating with no apparent clean air system to eradicate the overwhelming smell of large number of males in one room. It is cheap for a reason and did a fatal mistake of forgetting, 'you pay for what you get'. We will not be returning

Perfect location, 3min walking distance from the bus/train station. The bar downstairs is the coolest bar I've ever seen. Nice breakfast. I loved this place except few minor downsides: 1. Wifi only works in the bar, 2. The bar downstairs is occupied by local people at night so the travelers were cramped up in the small space behind the front desk to use the wifi at night. Very awkward, 3. The shower was ice cold way too often.
