I had a great stay here. The staff are very nice and helpful, especially Joaom and the English girl who work in the mornings. I stayed in a variety of rooms for over a week. The best one was the 4-bed dorm with bathroom. Sometimes the computers work, sometimes not. Overall it's a great hostel, the location is great, only 5 mins walk to Copacabana beach and 3 mins walk to the nearest Metro. Plenty of restaurants and shops in the area too. Also only 15 mins walk to Rio Sul shopping centre as well.

The hostel was really nice and has a good atmosphere. But if you are a girl going on your own I should recommend you to stay in Ipanema or Leblon. Copacabana not was very nice to walk at night.

I was not pleased with the stay here. There were signs of bedbugs in our room and the staff gave us a hard time about wanting to change rooms.

The hostel was meant to have air-conditioning in all rooms. Ours did not. Also a problem with a transfer that was meant to be a return but they only booked a single transfer.

The staff were unfriendly and bad at explaining simple tourist things like how to get a bus to sugar loaf. The rooms were like shoe boxes with plastic coverings and the fan was broken. While the location was amazing and the atmosphere wasnt too bad we payed alot so you have to weigh up what you want.

Great place to stay during Rio Carnaval. Amazing atmosphere and plenty of opportunities to utilise staff knowledge, and common areas to get to know people!

This place is greedy. Prices were hiked-up by 8 times for Carnaval. No other hostel or hotel increased prices by so much; but that is why they booked out earlier and we had no choice. My friends and I were put into a new "wing" of the hostel. This sounded good but actually meant that it was not finished. No kitchen, one bathroom for approx. 30 people, no hot water (the tap was totally removed!) no basics like mirrors, bins, soap... And cleaning was not done as regularly as promised. Rip-off!

I stayed during Carnaval 2013. There was a change in my plans and I wanted to cancel my booking but they wouldn't let me cancel it without taking 85% of the £500 I'd already paid for the 8 nights. this despite emailing them before the one month deadline where they promised to return 50%. I feel that was pretty sh*tty behavior. So anyway I ended up staying. it's a party hostel, facilities were ok, it's up a steep hill, breakfast was not bad. the English staff girl is really helpful.

If you get the 4 bed dorm, make sure it comes with a/c. Also, the non a/c 4 bed dorm is not secure although they claim it is. Wifi is spotty. Staff was friendly but not very helpful when it came to fixing the internet. Instead one told me it usually doesn't work so I was lucky it worked one day. Bathroom was only cleaned once every other day.

Awesome hostel. Very expensive over Carnival but we really enjoyed ourselves. The facilities are lacking - one washing machine in the very small kitchen. We stayed in a brand new room but there was only one bathroom (one person at a time) for about 24people! The breakfast is excellent, and its a 5min walk to the beach. Very clean considering it was full over Carnival and the staff were very helpful!

the best hostel to spend carnaval at by far! alcohol at breakfast (and breakfast is amazing too), they provide an array of costumes and accessories to dress up in, have brilliant staff who can point you in the direction of all the best blocos, and the hostel easily has the best showers in brazil...! the common areas are great, bar is brilliant for meeting people, upstairs is perfect for escaping and chilling. amazing atmosphere, fantastic crowd, i would stay here time and time again

i stayed there during carneval for 2 weeks. I know that its the most expensive time, so i accepted a price of 100 euros per night. The location is great, its close to many buses and to the metrostation. The location is safe too. The staff was really unhelpfull and it seemed that they didnt like you to ask anything. So its better to organise your trips on your own. So for only sleeping there its ok, even if the rooms are old (or they only look like this) and its quite dirty.

Absolutely fantastic week spent in CabanaCopa for Carnaval 2013. Hostel was a little expensive at this time, but so was every other hostel. Staff were pretty awful however - it was really difficult to get any sort of information or help out of them.

Pretty Average and expensive place. Some of the staff were so slow at everything. Great party atmosphere though.

This was the second time I stayed here, & for good reason...I have had friends who have stayed here & really enjoyed there time. The location of the hostel means its close to the beach, metro & bus. FThe welcome I irst impressions really impressed me, I thought the staff were very friendly & helpful. I found it to be clean, & not overly crowded, which made it more comfortable!

Good value hostel in a good location (Despite the hill!). I only stayed a couple of nights before coming home, but i thought it was a really chilled out hostel. There were loads of activities advertised on a huge chalkboard in the bar, and the staff were helpful.

The staff was saying bad things about the guests behind their backs, I didn´t quite appreciate that. The breakfast was really good! The showers are not for shy people, very public dressing room :P
