The reception/admin/bar staff were just great people to be around, connected with all types effortlessly, never lost their cool, and set a great atmosphere in the place. Location was A1, right in the thick of Copacabana. Bathrooms were brilliant, new and clean. Great showers. Breakfast could have more scrambled eggs sooner, they were good, but a little slow coming. I was a little sad to leave.

The hostel is well located. close to a metro station. the dorms are clean and bathroom too. But its still expensive for an hostel. The staff isn´t friendly .

Just stayed here for on night on my way to Ilha Grande but it was pretty easy to get to, relatively close to the beach, staff were really friendly and helpful and spoke English which was appreciated. Would stay again.

The private room with double bed, was unfortunately the worst room I had in the last three month and the price was extremely high.

Only would stay at this place for its location. The vibe is good-everyone hangs out in the common areas but mainly because the rooms are so bad. Some of the rooms don't have air con which is unbearable in Rio in the summer. The sheets are stained and has holes. The beds are uncomfortable even for a hostel. The staff wouldnt call us a taxi to the airport but would only let us book a 'private transfer' which was a taxi & cost us extra R$10. They confiscate alcohol even from rooms bc it has a bar!

Great hostel & atmosphere. Staff in the mornings were extremely helpful (though it seems someone had forgotten to inform them what was going on each evening). Staff in the evenings (one in particular) were unhelpful, rude, and didn't seem to be able to offer any advice other than to go on one of their organised tours. The bar closes at 10.30pm - makes it pretty much useless after you get back from dinner. If you stay here you'll meet great people & have a great time - despite the staff & bar!

I really liked Cabanacopa! It is a friendly, social and tidy place to stay. The place is centrally located (just a block from the metro and a few blocks from the beach), well-run and the staff are lovely ambassadors of the brazilian openness. The social areas and the happenings are great places to catch up with fellow travellers without having to join in on every night's party.I'd go again!

Party hostel. The dorms where really cramped, but that's more or less happening to Rio de Janeiro generally, probably because of the high rent. Breakfast was good. Toilets where spacy, but not THAT clean, probably because people are too many for the toilets available, at least on the 1st floor. That means a line as well. It has a nice small patio in front to hang out. The really bad part was the price. It was way too expensive for what it was offering, and the prices changed a lot.

Don't go to this hostel. Its expenssive with no reason. Everybody who were with us ran away from this hostel to other hostels in rio. The recepcion girls are very nice but didnt help us at all when we needed

Good points: Very close to Copacabana and the TV room has nice comfy sofas if you are feeling particularly fragile. Breakfast was sometimes good (hit and miss). Negatives : kitchen is terrible, our room (10 bed) was ok but heard from others who didnt have air con and their room smelt. Also the toilet on our floor was blocked up for 4 days. Biggest negative was the staff however, apart from the British girl and the guy, the rest clearly didn't want to be there and had had enough of travellers.

Excellent Location, only 2 mins from Metro and Rio Bike, 5 mins from Copacabana. Breakfast until 11am, what's very attractive I guess.. Only the pool is missing.. ;)

Light and bright, with large lockers for each visitor and a friendly, fun atmosphere. Great location a few blocks from the beach and transport links. Make sure you don't pay the extra for the "private room"; it's essentially a broom cupboard with a tiny bed somehow wedged in. Likewise make sure your room has air conditioning otherwise you face a hot sweaty night. Some of the staff are great, others are rude and unhelpful.

this is not a party hostel, as the noise is gone by 10pm, however, it is also not a quiet hostel. So its kind of in the middle and kind of confusing because there are alot of backpakers, and some groups, but there is really much OVERALL involvement of everyone in the hostel. People seem to be on their iphone, laptop, etc all the time, and the price is also not cheap. So i would suggest there to be some involvement for doing things in the hostel.

Clean rooms. Stayed in a 4 bedroom, which was air conditioned and very nice. Staff was very helpful, but the overall mood of the hostel was not one of trying to bring together hostelers. Downstairs bar area closed at 10:30, but we we were able to meet up with people and make plans each night. Located next to the metro and a few blocks from the beach. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a relaxed time.

Not bad, but not great. Not especially comfortable but in a decent location with all the stuff you would want in a hostel. One or two of the staff seem to dislike travellers, or perhaps life in general, but the rest were very nice. Average hostel.
