Man and women who run the place were super nice. I didn't see or smell any dogs, but there were a few friendly cats. Nice covered area in the back for relaxing, and very close to the ocean (but not the best part for swimming). There are some not-very-secure lockers in the dorm, but the owners were happy to hold our passports and cell phones when we went swimming.
