Liked the them, the room was small and basic but clean. Sucks that the front door is locked after ten though, and no one told us about the side door until our last night!

This backpacker was the worst we have ever been before. We have paid less for much better places. The old man who 'attended us' was really unkind. The last day, he asked us to paid to save our stuff, and he denied us a shelter for the rain to wait for our bus. Really bad facilities, with shared shower between women and men. The room was quite small for two people and unfurnished, with hot pipes visibles beside our little bed, and the plug too close to our pillows, which is very dangerous.

Nice, average hostel. It's just nice stay there.

Great hostel right in the centre of town. Walking distance to most facilities. Very clean with a well stocked kitchen, comfy couches in the tv room, and friendly, helpful staff. Reasonably priced too. Overall one of the best hostels I've stayed at.

Basic hostel. The hot pool looks dirty. Staff: owner and wife can be quite obnoxious, lucky if you meet the son. Had to beg to use the kitchen on the day of departure. Also, if you leave you luggage after 12 be prepared to pay a fee of 1$ per hour. Films cost a dollar too.

Cactus Jacks is a great hostel. It is located in the middle of Rotorua, and the tex-mex theme was surprisingly tasteful. A couple of things to note - the wifi is not included, but can be added for a few dollars. Also, if you wish to store your bags after check out, it will cost you $1 per hour after midday.

Beds are very wobbly when you're in the topbed in the mixed 8 room dorm. you can't move without waking the person below.

Good vibes, furniture a bit old but well equipped kitchen and loads of toilets so no waiting around for a shower. Great for a really cheap bed!

nice interesting deco!llove the cute mural on the walls. have a very nice spacious kitchen

Very friendly staff. Location is great. Good value for money. Locking mechanism on lockers can be easily unscrewed so valuables not completely safe but overall good place.
