Stayed here for 4 nights - in general the place was clean but the ladies toilets did have a slight smell for the entire time and the kitchen was an absolute tip at all times despite the best efforts of the reception staff. Disappointed with this YHA as in the past they have been very clean, comfortable and relaxing.

The hostel is well situated about a $25 can ride from the airport and right across from Cairns central. The ferry terminal is less 20 minutes walking away as well. The hostel has all the appropriate amenities required for a good stay and the staff are laid back and accommodating. There are free pancakes every morning which is also quite nice. Unfortunately the hostel advertised social events nightly that weren't actually happening (as it wasn't busy enough), which was a shame.

Good quality beds. Good sized lockers. Rooms are good sized but a lifeless feel to them. Outdoors space is great to hang out. More a cheap resort than a backpackers atmosphere, complete with screeching children and snoring old men, but evening social stuff helps a bit. Kitchen was overcrowded. Bathrooms and kitchens clean when just done but not checked regularly so get gross. Showers warm but need updated. Wifi is overpriced given there's free city wifi nearby. Charge for luggage storage.

Not the worst, but did not feel like a hostel, more like a military logement with lots of people squeezed in. Not very clean bathrooms and kitchen, but kitchen was well-equipped and large.

Felt unfriendly/cold. Also they charge for internet. I was a female put in a mixed dorm which was basically me and just 10 guys which was less than ideal. However, it is clean if not a little basic.

Great hostel! Just some couple of suggestions: - shower head on common bathrooms is too low. Next renovation make them higher; - lack of power plugs - two or three in a room of ten; Loved the common area!

It is a good place to stay. It is clean, close to the center and the price (22 dollars per night) is ok. It is quite big and sometimes a bit loud. So nothing for people who like to stay at a quiet place!

There was only one plug connection in a room, which is not enough for four people who wants to charge phones and camera's.

Hostel excellent in most points. Unfortunately being short (vertrically challenged) found the tea towel rail too high to reach. I was using my own modem on laptop and found that 'Global Gossip' was interfering with my own reception on Broadband. I did enquire about this at reception but no remedy could be found. I was staying some 20 minutes away from Cairns previously and had no problems whatsoever. Does Global Gossip try to over-ride so that we have to pay for Broadband?

I love this hostel. But there is not many places to charge electronic devices. Accept that, this is the perfect place to spend time in Cairns

The blanket that was provided in the room wasn't clean. The shower also did not work very well.

This Hostel was one of the friendliest and nicest place to stay the rooms didn't have that much going for them but the atmosphere and people made up for that. the pool is great and a nice outdoor area right nest to the kitchen made it a great place to meet people rooms had amazing air conditioning (coming from a cold climate you will need it) and lockers to store you belongings. lots of room in the kitchen and the staff were always helpful and smiling.
