I'm not sure if the bathrooms and kitchen is cleaned regularly, papers falling out the bin, wet floor, no hygienic place to put our stuff, the kitchen smells. The bed is not comfortable, it shakes when the person underneath moves. There's no more than 2 plugs inside the room, none in the bathroom, which is complicated to share with 11 people. There's no late snack bar surround the hostel and they have no machine for a bottle of water, chips, whatever. It could be much better for the price.

The hostel is about a 20 minute walk from the Royal Mile which is where the free walking tours begin, bus tours depart, and the pub crawl takes place. It's not a bad distance and you walk past the castle and through the garden in the meantime. A few of the girls complained about cold showers on the third floor, but the second floor's were perfectly hot. Everything was very clean, the bar/lounge area was a nice addition, and the breakfast was filling (cereal, toast, juice/coffee/tea). Nice place.

Maybe they could offer the towel already at check-in (at least for such green newcomers, as I was ;-) ) It was a lovely stay, even if short. Breakfast - coffee - was great!

I loved the paintings on the walls, and the breakfast was the best I had in a youth hostel.

Loved this place! I highly recommend it for anyone looking for somewhere clean, safe and homely to stay in Edinburgh. Close to princes street an within walking distance to main city attractions, supermarkets, banks, food, and anything else you can think of! Staff are friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed watching a movie in the beanbag cinema and free wifi everywhere in the hostel!

Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, fantastically decorated, unique and in a handy location. Only complaint is that sometimes the toilets wouldn't flush (on all floors). Other than that it really was clean everywhere.

There were not enough toilets, sinks or showers which left it wanting on cleanliness as a result. Other than that I had a pleasant stay.

Decent hostel. A but run down and could you some fresh paint/ carpeting etc. decently clean but the fact that things just looked tired and worn out makes it look unclean. Showers in the girls toilets were a bit awkward with clear glass and the fact they there was a big step to get into them. Also no place to put soap, shampoo etc. once inside. Staff were nice but walking tour never showed up the morning we tried to go so we had to meet them in town instead.

They have great wi-fi! Also, I like that they have personal lockers in the rooms but you do need your own lock. The bar in the hostel was nice and open and had decent prices for drinks. It's a bit of a walk to get to the main attractions in the city, but a nice hostel to stay in nonetheless. Definitely check out the free walking tour! They pick you up in the lobby just ask reception about it. Oh and there's a Greggs (bakery) nearby the hostel, cheap and delicious pastries!

If the staff was a little bit more smiley and seemed happy to talk/interact, with the guests it would be an amazing hostel. I only stayed for one night but that's one think I noticed when interacting with a few different people working in the reception and bar. Loved the place and the atmosphere in the common rooms, the rooms are clean, spacey and comfortable.
