Excellent hostel with comfortable and practical facilities, as well as a good location at the foot of the hill. Just have one small suggestion: hope the light in the room is brighter. :-)

Excellent hostel. Best value for money...they offer free internet either on pc or laptops, good breakfast, cheap bar, useful location, huge dorms. If the dorms had their own toilet itd be perfect, but they are clean in average. Undoubtedly id book again there.

I have stayed in over 40 hostels in the last year, and spent 10 months working in a hostel in London. This hostel is a shining example of what hostelling should be. AMAZING facilities (kitchen, cinema, cheap laundry, chillout room, bar, pool tables, board games, wii), cool building, close to the castle, Excellent staff. I ended up staying here for almost 4 weeks. I was soo sad to leave, alot of hard goodbys. Only thing, wish they sold more food. If I could I would give it 200%

it was a really nice hostel. It was slightly off the city centre but wasnt so bad. Staff was very nice and breakfast was really good. It was very good that they had many rooms people could hang out in the hostel. The bathrooms and showers were okay, too. Overall, it was a nice one. I recommend here.

Location was brilliant as it was right in the centre of Edinburgh, barely a minute from Princes Street. The staff were very friendly and helpful, able to direct us to various places and suggest good eating and drinking spots! The Hostel itself had a laidback atmosphere with some really quirky decor and a decent common room . Cleanliness was as good as you would expect for a hostel, and security was good. Overall, excellent value for money!

Love love LOVED this hostel! Amazing location, friendly staff, really awesome interior and bedding (two pillows? Am I a princess?). Very cheap laundry service, nice showers, whole kit-n'-caboodle. Nothing to complain about; I'd stay here (and in the lovely city of Edinburgh) again in a second.

Beds comfortable, but incredibly hot in the rooms, and could only open the window a tiny fraction. Facilities were superb, with a bar, wifi throughout the hostel, entertainmens things such as pool, board games, wii? Nice Bathrooms, although some heat could be transferred from the bedrooms to the bathrooms as cold when getting out of shower. Otherwise a really great hostel that will be recommended

I thought it was an interesting looking hotel with all the facilities you need and comfortable places to sleep, eat and hangout. Also it is located right next to Princes street which was fantastic.

This was the second time I stayed at the Caledonian and it was basically the same as last time - the slightly surly receptionist and an odd smell when you get to the 1st floor. It was also quite clean and very easy to find everything and the movie room is great. I would stay again.

The Hostel is just great. The facilities are awesome, and the bar and the "movie theatre" are the best I have ever find in a hostel. Excellent location, good atmosphere, and an wonderful breakfast. Definitely recommended.

Good: large rooms, good lockers, many things to do in the bar. Location is excellent. Bad: Some near drunks guys in the bar. Bathrooms are bad; I can not understand why somebody do a bathroom in a way to looks unclean even if is clean! Showers are a small cubicle without space to put anything, even a soap, the doors have no lockers (anyone can open it when you are in the shower) and some of them with a TRANSPARENT GLASS door (ANYONE CAN TAKE A PICTURE OF YOU TAKING SHOWER).

Great hostel, the staff were absolutely lovely and very helpful. The free breakfast was one of the best we have had in a hostel. The atmosphere in the bar/communal area was very nice and relaxed.

Only comment would be that visitors have access to the luggage storage cupboard on their own without having a staff with them.

One of the nicest staff EVER! No matter the time they are always happy to help! Location is quite close to many pubs/clubs and since Edinburgh is quite small you can walk everywhere by foot. Just gave a "Good" since it's not close to the train station but it's well served by buses. As for the facilities, also face it a good since there are not a lot of electricity plugs in the room. Apart from that, it's fr sure the best or second best hostel in Edinburgh and a wonderful choice!
