Heat on full blast constantly and the window opened on to a club that finished well into the early house of the morning, floor in the room was filthy. Every time a door opened of closed within 15 feet the room shook. If you're planning to get drunk a lot and party it'd probably be good but if you want a nice place for a relaxed holiday its awful

I think my only complaint would be lack of plugs in the rooms. Otherwise this place is excellent. They think of everything. And the Bean Bag Cinema is really cool.

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay at the Caledonian Backpackers Hostel. I was really surprised by how well kept it was and how attentive and helpful staff were either at the bar/common room or at the reception. They managed to move us into the same room with no problem. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were really well decorated. It felt more like a hotel than a hostel. The common room was inviting and friendly. Overall, really well run. I plan to use the same hostel again in July.

I stay at this hostel every time I come to Edinburgh, and I love it! The staff are always friendly and helpful, and I always enjoy my time here. The location is incredible, and the views from the room I stayed in were gorgeous!

This hostel has set the bar high for all the other hostels out there. No other hostel I've been to offers a beanbag cinema to chill in and watch movies, free laptops/computers, WII, and such a great environment. Everything was great from the location, staff, environment, etc. You get that laid back hipster vibe which is great during a weekend of travel. I'm hard pressed to say anything bad about this place. Great job Galedonian Backpackers!!! If I'm every in Edinburgh again, I'm staying with u!

This was absolutely the best hostel I have ever stayed at. The dorm rooms and bathrooms were clean, the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, the bar was excellent and the hostel had an overall great vibe and chill feel. I will definitely be returning here on future trips to edinburgh!!

Hostel was clean and beds were comfortable. However the hostel was a 20 minute walk from the city centre, which wasn't very convenient for nights out. Hostel itself was fine, although I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for a central base from which to explore Edinburgh on foot.

The hostel was very secure and relatively clean. There is a nice bar with free Internet facilities, and an awesome chill out room! Also a very large, well-stocked kitchen. The hostel is very central and the hostel staff are more than happy to help you find your way around!

Very friendly staff, love the free breakfasts. Yoghurt! Yum! And vegemite- fantastic for an Aussie who's been away for a while. Dorm was great, bathroom was fine, bar was fantastic! The pound coffees also a winner. And loving the board games. Would be back in a heartbeat. :)

Thought this hostel was great. Showers were always clean and nice and hot, even late morning when lots of other people had already showered. The bed and doona were really comfy and everyone had 2 pillows - nice!! The only thing i can suggest is better ventilation in room 8 - the windows were always steamed up.

Very nice and warm place to meet interesting people. the showevroom and toilet are always clean, and the bed is ok. The reception and bartender are nice and friendly, and always willing to help, which made our stay a pleasant one. It would be better if the lights in the room can be more (because when we were there, there was only ONE light for the whole room, and it was a room for 20 ppl, too dark actually. )

Loved my stay - especially that you get free WiFi access everywhere and even was offered to borrow a laptop for free! Also never been at a hostel where the kitchen stays open all night - excellent for people like me who come home very late! The staff is very friendly and everything is very clean. Will definitely come back!! Thank you guys!

Quite a good hostel, only problem was the showers! Only one sink in the communal showers and the showers themselves were small with nowhere to hang your clothes. But apart from that, good hostel within walking distance to all the major sights and very easy to get to from the airport and to Waverley train station.

I needed a bag stored, because I was ready to fly out of the country and could not carry my bag up the stairs. Someone came and woke me up, because I didn't have an alarm clock. I needed a cab and they called for one it was there in a couple minutes. The wifi did not work well at all it took 10 to 15 calls to get through 1 phone call and I had to make several calls.I just finally gave up.
