Thanks Weiyi, We are difficult to find especially if guests use a satnav or GPS. The reason is that we live on a private road and do not actually have an official postcode. We try and send out a map by email to all bookings and it clearly states that guests could get lost if using a digital device. Print off the map we send and use it. If using a GPS, Satnav or Google smart phone you must input Connichie Road, Fort William. We have a large sign on Connochie Road pointing guests to our place. Our website www.fortwilliamholiday.co.uk also has a very clear map.

Calluna is a nice small hostel with nice atmosphere, but at the time when I was there the bathroom and toilet was really dirty. The other problem was that all the building was really cold on the day of my arrival. It took few hours to feel warm in the room or in the kitchen - both toilet and bathroom were freezing cold.

Sorry about that Dorata. We do clean regularly and often get good marks for cleanliness. If other guests are in residence the facilities can occasionally be unclean just through normal use. The weather has been pretty wintry of late. The bathroom and toilet do have heaters in them but it sounds like they were turned off on your arrival. We'll keep an eye on these issues and thanks for the feedback. Alan & Sue

It was very difficult to find even with a car. We drove up the hill with the sign to the address (and this sign was not easy to find) to the end of the road, then found a note saying that cars should go from another route! We had to drive down the hill and up again guessing where we shall go. It took us about half an hour to find the hostel and no one was picking up the phone in the hostel at all. We waited at the door for about half an hour before we saw the owners came back.

Sorry about your problems Ningning. We sometimes go out to do some shopping for food. We normally leave a note on the back door with a mobile number to call, as we are never far away. There is a very good map on our website at http://www.fortwilliamholiday.co.uk/location that helps guests find us. Many people trying to find us use a satnav, but as we live on a private road we have no postcode and a satnav will not work. Thanks for your feedback. Alan & Sue Kimber (owners)

The owners seem to be a very nice young couple. The apartment, shared by two rooms, is big and provides you with everything you need (that includes Braveheart on VHS, those were the days). There is a lot of information in the apartment on various hiking tracks and things to see/do in the surrounding area. The location is nice, you have a nice view over the Loch. Don't be fooled by the climb up to the hostel though, it is quite the walk. All in all, your money is well spend here!

Thanks Boudewijn, The owners are actually a bit older and were away on holiday. Our daughter Hannah was running the place. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Alan & Sue

Very convenient location. Clean cosy dorm room with clean sheets with a shared kitchen. Overall a homely place to relax and wind down after climbing ben nevis. Main door leading to shared dorms could have autolock installed such that a key is always needed to open door from the outside as some guests dont lock the main door when leaving.

Thanks for your feedback Junwei Li. We will consider the idea of an autolock as it would save on getting new keys cut when guests lose them, and would offer more security, as you say.

The hostel is really clean and confortable and the staff quite friendly. But, it's a little far from the centre city and and there are no many things to do there (maybe it's because I was alone in my room, haha).

Thanks Matusael for your feedback. Fun is a very subjective concept and personally I think HostelWorld should consider scrapping it. I remember hostels in Santiago or Sydney where everyone apart from me and Sue were having fun at three o'clock in the morning but all I wanted was sleep! If you want to relax in peace and quiet with other guests, choose us, However if you want a party, maybe go elsewhere. Ten minutes into town is not far to walk. Coming back up the hill will take a little longer. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
