You get an email after booking with a map, so it's really easy to find the hostel. Beds are very comfortable:)

rooms and facilities aren't nice. no one at the reception even during normal working hours

Thanks Francesco, We were away and left a note on the back door showing guests to their beds. We sent an email to Francesco, which obviously did not arrive. In the morning Francesco left a note saying they might try and get back to pay, but if not, take the payment from their card details, which we did. The other 24 guests staying were aware we were away and an emergency number was posted on the back door as normal. All the other guests were happy. Thanks for the good mark for cleanliness :)

A nice spacious hostel with friendly staff and good facilities (spacious kitchens). The rooms are comfortable as well and although the hostel is located on a big hill, the view makes it worth the climb! The toilets could be a little cleaner and although it is possible to lock your room, nobody really does it so security depends on who you stay with.

Clean facilities, friendly host, breathtaking views. And there was even a cozy living room. It was really lovely.

Was a nice hostel and was perfectly clean with friendly staff, however it felt somewhat like you were staying at granny's rather than a hostel.

The owners are certainly no 'spring chickens' Ellen and when we go hostelling get a few queer looks! Hopefully some of you reading this review will have fond memories of your granny, so come on down all you young things:)))

It was hard to find the hostel on foot and it's up a decently sized hill, but it's friendly and intimate. I would stay again.

Thanks. The map we sent you may not have shown on your phone? We admit to being up the back of town, where the view is better from the top of the hill. Over recent years our postcode has changed, making our spot easier to find and we try and send a map to all guests who book. If we are at home, we also pick folk up from town.

Everything was perfect! Thank you for cheap and nice stay.

Thanks Glad you enjoyed your stay at Calluna.

Pretty view on the lake from our room and the picnic tables in the garden

Thanks for your review. I'm just out painting the picnic tables. They look much smarter now! Alan & Sue

It has a great 'feel' to it, very relaxed, lots of space to chill if weather bad, even though the drying room wasn't purpose built it worked fine. No negatives at all.

Thanks Paul, Careful what you say about our drying rooms. They are my pride and joy! As you say, they do work well and you should be there when 26 kayakers are in residence. Your review is appreciated.

The fact that there were no sheets on the bed really annoyed me. They add some bit of cleanliness, since you can wash them whenever there are new people. Also, the bathroom was a bit too dirty.

Owner Comment (Hide)
Thanks. Top sheets are not fitted under our duvet covers. Covers are changed weekly. Bottom sheets and pillow cases after guests depart. Sue and I travel widely over the world and carry a sheet liner in case with hit a dirty place. Other guests may have left the kitchen dirty and we will keep that under review as always. Thanks for some positive marks in your review as well. Cleanliness is normally high on the list and often above 80%. Thank for taking the time to give feedback. Alan Sue

Warm, clean and comfy rooms. Great location and a great base for our climbing weekend.
