My week at Cape Town Backpackers flew by. I met some amazing people, and the staff did a great job at making my fellow travellers and I feel at home and comfortable at this hostel and in this country. I especially enjoyed it when everyone met up in the evenings and shared stories about their days and enjoyed a few drinks at the Cape Town Backpackers' bar and social area. A special thank you to Unathi, Dayan, and Matthias for your company and for taking great care of us Canadians!

The staff are very friendly and welcoming and try to make sure you enjoy your stay. The facilities are clean and over all it's a really decent hostel. I would stay there again.

The best hostel I've been to bar none. The staff are great, the bar is cool, the location is the best. The kitchen has just been totally refitted and is excellent. Just loved it, thanks guys, I'm telling everyone to come to you. I really hope I can come back some day and see you all again. Thanks

The 6-bed dorm was "pre-occupied" by 4 young girls (Canadians) who were noisy every night and so messy (their shirts and unddies everywhere). One of them even brought a guy in and they slept together. I moved out to another dorm which was directly above the bar and a few more sleepless nights there. The worst of the worst was the kitchen, some dishes undone almost every night. So I had to wash some of them to cook for myself. The guy with a beret-like hat never does his dishes. So unfair!

I had a grat time at Cape town backpackers it was the best hostel i've been to so far and i've been travelling for 10 months! The staff are so amazing and lovely, they are great fun but also really know what they are are talking about. It is also really central without being on long street which is good for a night out but i would like to try and sleep there. Well thanks for a great time guys and i'll be back one day soon plus i'm telling everyone to go and stay with you.

Self catering kitchen was not very good. Never enough spoons or cups...I actually cleaned my own dishes...but it was constantly filled with dirty dishes (not sure what you can do about that but it was more a problem at your place than any other hostel I've been to in the past 11 months of travelling). Also there was never any fridge space and they were in bad need of cleaning out. There were also cockroaches everywhere (bathroom, kitchen) and the showers plugs were full of hair so flooded const

well what can i really say... other than that it was the best start to my vacation. if i may say one word it is Dayan, had a b last with this chappy. he really got us checked in on time and made sure that when i was feelin under the weather i had adequate pillows in my fortress (he built me a pillow fortress (to keep the world away)). Located minutes away from party chaos, but you'll always feel at home and as welcome as a dove on peace day. I love this place.

The Photos on the site are Misleading. The pricing of the Family Units are expensive. We only stayed for the fisrt nite, then moved to a proper Hotel on the V&A Waterfront for a mere R90 per person extra per night.

Absolutely loved my stay at Cape Town backpackers! The location, cheap and delicious breakfasts, and readily available beers were all great, but it was the staff that really made my stay. They were incredibly helpful with bookings, questions, etc, and also managed to create a wonderfully open, warm, laid-back and fun atmosphere. Thank you!!

A friend of mine recommended this hostel to me and I have to say: one of the coolest places I've been to: the staff is amazing - super friendly and very helpful, quite bad ass when it comes to drinking though ;) so if you'd like to stay in a place where people care about making new friends and having a bloody good time instead of staying in the cleanest place in the world then this is the place to go! I loved every minute of my stay and will definitely come back asap!

Great place to stay in Cape Town. I stayed in one of the double en-suite rooms. It had a balcony with a view of Table Mountain. My only real gripe was that nobody did any washing up and the kitchen was always a mess. Other than that - the staff were great really friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Cleanliness: we found bed bugs. When we reported this, the manager lectured my girlfriend that bed bugs happen to occur in big cities, and that we should understand this. In my view, the understanding should have gone in the opposite direction, though, and for sure, after traveling extensively in Africa many times, this was the first time I encountered bed bugs. In the end we were refunded, and left for the much cleaner Ashanti Lodge, where you do get value for money.

My only issue was that the internet/wifi didn't work at all the first day we were there and only worked sporadically the second day. We selected this hostel because they had a special with "free wifi." This isn't much of a bargain when it consistently doesn't work. Other than that, the rooms/bar/food/facilities were fine.
