Nice place, practical spot, unfortunately it seems that one of the cleaning staff stole cash from myself and my friend in a double room, from a locked bag. The staff was concerned and helpful, but we left it to them to deal with it as they thought best. I was also surprised that I was handed the key to the storage room to go leave my bag by myself; in no other hotel or hostel that I've been in do they let you go alone. Other than that, no complaints. It was fairly quiet while I was there.

Nice place to stay in a good spot, close to most markets-cafe-bars-restos.

I really loved saying here. The staff went out of their way to meet our needs and were at all times accessible. Their generosity of spirit made my stay really memorable.

Super place, very friendly staff, great location, fun and welcoming bar.. Staff are very informative of what to do in Cape Town and go out of way to make you feel welcome.. Stayed in a dorm which was very nice, felt safe when in the backpackers.

The staff was very kind to bump us up to a bigger room, we appreciated that. But there was absolutely nothing special about the hostel, except the location. I felt it was too expensive for what we got but I was very grateful for the secured (via a finicky padlock that I am sure no thief would have been able to pass by, we barely made it through:) parking! Staff was helpful but rather clueless about things to do in CT.

Spent 4 nights in March '13. The staff were fine, didn't interact with them much but all were friendly. Facilities are adequate, bar the 7 bed dorm having only one light source and basically one socket by the door. Tiny safe per bed, think passport and wallet size space. My main peeve was that I was charged an extra 5% for using a non-South African credit card to pay, no warning until I was there with it in hand.

The only real issue we had was we didn't have a fan. I asked downstairs but, who I assumed to be the Manager, was completely unhelpful, so I had to 'borrow' one in the middle of the night (2:30AM) as our room was similar to a sauna. The young gentleman and lady behind the counter were great though.

The staff was very helpfull and friendly. Breakfast was ok. The bathrooms should be cleaned more often or better. The music in the bar is sometimes too loud so it is not possible to sleep. Nothing was stolen but I did not feel that my belongings are safe in my room because the door would be easy to open.

Clean kitchen, dorms, punchcode password at front door and mini security lockers in each room. Property felt safe, bring earplugs as the bar closes as late as it feels like, the staff are able to make a variety of around Cape Town bookings for you. Showers were reliably hot, wifi spotty during our visit.

We had a wonderful time at Capetown Backpackers. They treated us like royalty and gave us the best room in the house--with wonderful private patio in addition to private bathroom. Since we are in our seventies we really appreciated that--but also the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the hostel's great location. We had more fun there than in many more expensive hotels we stayed in.

The wifi never worked and the bathroom/showers were very few for the large number in the dorm.
