This was a very nice hostel, perfectly situated less than a block from the Bund. The only issue was that the bathrooms were as cold as outside, but that's to be expected. There is 24/7 reception, which is really convenient. The wi-fi wasn't easily accessible though. Overall, a good stay, and I would definitely stay here again!

The location of the hostel is brilliant and the rooftop view is breathtaking! I wasn't impressed by the breakfast there, but the pizza and cocktails are alright - still expensive for chinese standarts though. So I recomment the very tasty and cheap chinese dishes you can get on every street corner; if you get fresh fruit or vegtables try to get them peeled! The cleanliness for chinese standarts is good - but you need FlipFlops for the shower, your own toilet paper and towel.

-Not for relaxing in that's for sure. pretty barren throughout the first 5 floors yet 30 RMB minimum to sit in their hoity toity 6th floor bar with a nice view, 40 to 50 RMB drinks. -Website lied about having mixed dorms (girlfriend and I had to split up) even though chose this place over another because it said mixed dorms. Wouldn't recommend.

Dorm was nice and big with lockers. You need to carry your own toilet paper with you. 6th floor café has an excellent view over the Bund, but it was pretty expensive. Staff was ok, but rather slow and not organized at all. Few of them spoke English. This is part of the working culture and traveller needs to understand it. It's also good to have some mosquito spray. Good experience, will return if visit Shanghai again.

Lost some jewellery by stupidly leaving it in the bathroom, but after putting up a sign it was returned to me within 24 hours! Such wonderful people! No communal kitchen though - kind of a downer.

Prime location, staff were less than friendly but ok helpful if engaged directly enough! Bathroom were mouldy and gross! Dorms were EXCELLENT in terms of space and security! Wouldn't give us extra blankets when cold though! As we only had a very thin one! Wifi is not free for dorm guests! Had to go to the bar and buy something to use it! Bar was EXCELLENT for the view but overpriced for the average food!

Only good thing it has is location. I only stayed for one night, so I needed that perfect location, but if I were to stay more days, I know I won't be staying here. No toilet paper, Bathroom was dirty.

location is great BUT... the hostel is HORRIBLE!!! Dirty, dirty, dirty... Mattress was hard as a piece of stone... There was no Wi-Fi available for guests, so we were forced to use it in the bar. However, using the internet was only possible if purchasing something at the bar. For a perspective, the same can of coke that cost 4 yuan outside the hostel, costed 30 yuan at Captain Bar. DON`T RECOMMEND EVEN FOR MY WORST ENEMY!

There is an excellent view from the rooftop bar to the skyline on the opposite side of the river. Try it out. The internet did not always work. Staff was helpul here, but not successful. I asked the staff, if there is a public bus going to the old town. There is one going fairly close (No. 66, e.g.), but the answer was "No. Take a Taxi". staff speaks English. You get more information at the tourist information desk, just walk 100m to the Bund, turn left; it is at the entrance to the walk tunnel.
