Great staff that was really helpful. Good, cheap western breakfast and a load of chinese options for food. However, the facilities were a bit lacking. The lounge area was tiny to non-existent. The location wasn't great either. It was up a hill in a run down side street. The best part about this hostel was the staff but I dont think I would stay there again. If you are looking for just a bed this place is fine but I have definitely stayed in better places for cheaper in China.

The 2 staff members, Tom and Robert were very helpful. I was in Sanya only for 2 days but due to their advice, I was able to spend my time well. I made the most during my stay there. Very trustworthy too.

This hostel is nice: 10 mins from beach, clean. What makes it super nice is the staff. Guys are sooo kind, friendly and helpfull. They will do their best to help you and solve any issue: finding the ways, day trips, transportation. They are very nice. They do serve good breakfast. It was nice to stay there. Thanks a lot)

Captains house is good. However, some of the descriptions on website are not accurate. There is not wifi in every room, and most importantly, there is NO SWIMMING POOL! No big deal as you are only an 8 minute walk to the sea. The location is very good, although waiting for a taxi was sometimes a bit of a pain. Rooms are nice and clean. Thomas is very helpful and kind but always very busy. Price is good and they serve food in the common room... but for the love of God, don't ask for coffee :)

Great ambience! Robert and especially his uncle are very friendly and make you feel at home. The location near the fishing village is great for food and blind massage. The furnishings are not the newest, but very clean. Met lots of nice travelers there too.

This is a good hostel, and I wholly recommend it. The best thing about it are the staff. They are without question the friendliest and most keen to help I have met in a Chinese hostel, and their English is excellent. The location is not bad if you plan to walk everywhere although it is on a slight incline. Therefore if you rent a bike/e-bike/scooter then the location becomes very good.

I came during tourist season so the hostel was overbooked, they arranged for me to stay in a hotel directly across the street. At first I wasn't so sure about staying in the hotel because I preferred to be with all the travelers in the hostel, but the room was really nice and the bed was soft enough. If you come during Chinese New Year or National Day you will need to book your tours in advance as when we were there, all the tours were fully booked for the entire week.

Compared to other hostels I've stayed at in Sanya, Captain's house had a bigger private room with bigger beds. The walk to Da Dong Hai beach is a little longer than some hostels, but it's much quieter during the night and early morning hours due to it's location up the hill. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Tom, Robert and their Mom were really nice and helpful! The room was tidy and clean. But we only stayed a few days there because of the location. Though it's not far to walk to Daodanghai Beach (down the hill and up again) but we prefered the Beach at the Intercontinental Resort which was a 25minute walk every day. That's why we moved to a hostel down there. It's only a pity that they don't mention that across the Intercontinental exists another lovely fisher village with lots of delicious food

this hostel is very laid back. i liked their movie room and outdoor patio. they need a bathroom in a common area and more showers, people shower a lot at the beach. the hostel could have been cleaner. the door to the room i was in was always kept open for some reason. the owners are very nice and helpful, but i would probably not stay there again.
