We are staying at this hostel for the last week, have booked in another week just because its such an all-rounder! The staff are so helpful, the facilities are fantastic, great location, right on the esplanade and a stone's throw away from the hive of it all. Air conditioned rooms, fridge-freezer also, making it easier to keep track of your own food instead of a communal fridge. The pool is refreshing and well needed in hot Cairns weather! All in all, a fantastic place to stay :)

Best hostel I've stayed in so far. Great location, close to the city centre but far enough away to get a peaceful night's sleep. The staff were amazing. They are so helpful and friendly, I was treated like a member of the family. My room was spotless and much bigger than I was expecting for the price. Big swimming pool too! I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Excellent stay, the room waa fantastically clean. The staff gave great advice about what available locally. The free meal was rediculous, the food was terrible, the Garlic Bread the restaurant provided was mouldy. That is pretty much unacceptable. It was very obvious by the sea of unhappy faces that more than one Hostel used here for food, and that it was appauling. I would definently go back and use the Hostel as it was fantastic but I would suggest they try and arrange the free meal elsewhere.

Clean (borderline sterile atmosphere), exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, all the facilities you need, and right on the Esplinade 10 minute walk from all the main attractions in Cairns. A/C is very helpful in the hot weather as well.

Very good hostel, one of the best I've ever been! Everything's clean, there are outside tables where u can eat or relax, just by the swimming pool. The staff is very friendly and helpful and will help u book your day trips. I recommend it very much!

The location is a bit off if you ask me although that extra walk might be worth your good night's sleep. I do recommend this place if you need a good and cheap place to stay. Extra plus for the personal service provided by staff who knew my name and offered me money back(!) for the nights I didn't stay due to a late planned diving-trip. I ended up coming back for those extra nights after diving. I do think the facilities need a make-over but overall I had a great time.

I really, really enjoyed my stay at Caravellas. We we're only supposed to stay for a week and ended up staying almost four because we had such a great time. It's very clean and staff is super friendly and very helpful. Would definitely recommend this to anyone going to Cairns!

Definitely one of the best hostels i´ve ever stayed in. Next to the waterfront with just a 10 minutes walk to the city. the staff is friendly and knows a lot about the trips they sell. every room has a own fridge and good mattresses. and for lazy backpackers there is a café in the house with good and affordable food.

Really nice hostel in a coasy atmosphere. Big room! We liked the terrace a lot, too. Just some minor things to improve. I'd recommend to replace the AC, because it was really loud and the windows didn't close tíght, so you had to turn it on to a high level and that made sleeping hard.

Reccomended place to stay for a few days in Cairns. Advantages: very helpful staff, all basic facilities in place (kitchen, common area, clean swimming pool and a travel office); close to Esplanade (few minutes to the city centre) and relatively silent, Disadvantages: very expensive internet, thin walls - you can hear anyone talking in the adjacent room), no cabinets for clothes in the room. It was also a pity that there were no towels provided, would be useful for using at the pool.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there, the location was great, and staff friendly and helpful. Great value for money, how wonderful be staying in a prime location for $40 per night! Loved my room and the pool, and generally felt at home there. Just a little more care with cleaning the rooms, I found spilt juice remaining on the top of the fridge door when I arrived, and also a "dust bunny' under the bed when I was checking to make sure I hadn't left anything behind before I left. .
