Having travelled through most of Europe over the past 9 months, I have stayed at a lot of hostels. Two of them stand above the rest, and Carpe Noctem is one of those two. You will struggle to have more fun anywhere in any hostel, you definitely won't find better in Budapest. The staff go above and beyond, they're very professional, but at the same time they really just feel like other guests. They're so friendly and genuinely interested in talking to you and spending time with you.

It isn't easy to describe Carpe Noctem OG because it is so hard to believe that a hostel can become a home, staff can be your family, and strangers be best friends, and all that in just a matter of hours, but at OG it is inevitable. If you're a solo traveler, a group of mates, or even a couple, it's the perfect place to stay. There's literally always something going on to be a part of, and I can guarantee you won't waste a single second in Budapest!

Great Hostel, perfect for solo travellers, staff super friendly and engaging with guests. Different activities each night plus good advice on sightseeing in the city and best places to eat. Thanks heaps, great stay!

The hostel do have a good atmosphere, especially if you are looking for party. Good location too. However, there were some points that I did not like. The facilities were poor (doors at the bathroom not closing properly, leaks in the bathroom); My bed was not comfortable; Staff, although very friendly, gave me wrong information about how to get to train station. My stay was good, but could've been much better if these points were improved.

Fab hostel! Great for meeting other backpackers, delicious cheap family dinners, lovely staff and had an awesome night out at karaoke! Definitely will be coming back!

This is hands down the best hostel I've stayed in. It's clean, comfy beds, aircon that actually works, fast wifi, great showers, delightful family dinners. But all this pales in comparison to the staff (actually the best people ever) and the family atmosphere created with the other guests. This is a hostel that loves to party and wants you to make the most of your stay, if you want to make friends and have a great time in Budapest stay here. I would never stay anywhere else.

By far the greatest hostel I've ever stayed in, exceedingly comfortable with a social atmosphere that's second to none. The staff will ensure that Budapest becomes one of your favourite cities on the planet. Be ready to party with some incredible new friends and have some nights you'll never forget and some you'll never remember.

Me and a friend visited last week for our second time, both in Budapest and at Carpe Noctem OG! Normally I like to try new places to stay, but we just had to come back to Carpe Noctem simply because the atmosphere created, by the staff and all the awesome guests you meet, is so social and welcoming! They organise non-obligatory super fun daytime activities, plus crazy nights out at really funky and varied ruin bars/pubs/boats/baths! You're bound to have an amazing time here!

Small size of the hostel means that the atmosphere is always buzzing. Great for solo travellers, super easy to meet people. If you want to party, Carpe is the only place to stay.

This is an epically awesome hostel. Carpe has perfected the home-away-from-home atmosphere. Really easy to make solid friends and party in an amazing place with them! Great location, super comfortable, secure and clean, but most importantly, the staff are AMAZING. They will make make sure you have the best possible time in Budapest. You won't want to leave. Stay here! And give Giggles & Nina hugs for us! (because they are da best).

Its a good hostel. Well located, always clean and good value for money. All the rooms have a good air con. Its a small hostel, so its good for solo travellers make friends! All the staff are really helpful and always try to make you feel at home. The only negative point is that all the staff are foreigners, so we cant learn any hungarian word, the culture..anything about hungary, its like if you are in a hostel in Australia for example. It seems that all of them are living there and they dont h

Fantastic small hostel. Very easy to meet other travelers and the staff are awesome! Enjoyed all 4 pub crawl nights that I went on. When you arrive for the first time the building looks abandoned inside, don't be alarmed, just go up to the top floor.

500 characters is not enough to explain my love for this place. This hostel MADE my stay in Budapest. They invite you into their family and make you feel totally at home. It's one of the few places I can say I will definitely come back too. GO HERE. You will not regret it. Travelling by myself, I found it so easy to mingle here and if you get involved in all the planned activities and chip in for the daily yummy family dinners you'll have no trouble finding the best of company!

Location: Compared to other hostels I stayed at in Budapest, Carpe Noctem was farther away from tourist attractions or major pubs. Still within walking distance (Budapest is small). Staff: Generally very friendly and laid-back, if a bit immature. Atmosphere: As a solo traveler, it was very easy to meet others. I did feel like one of the very few non-Australians though. Facilities: The most comfortable hostel beds, excellent air conditioning, well-stocked kitchen, free eggs for breakfast.

Awesome stay here - perfect blend of chilled out staff and guests who all know how to have a great time. All the staff go out of their way to get to know you and help you have the best time you can. Nina is a legend.

After having stayed at OG a couple of times now, I can honestly say that staying at this hostel is guaranteed to be the best decision of your trip. The second best will be extending your stay or returning shortly after you leave! Carpe Noctem is a home away from home, and that's all because of the team working there. T Bags, Elly, Giggles, Craig and Nina you are absolutely fantastic human beings - I can't thank you enough for making Budapest what it was!
