It's very clean and modern, this makes your stay very comfortable for your moneys worth. The location is not ideal but if you are looking for a chilled, quiet hostel to just lay back I recommend it. We, as guest had to face an incident within the staff of the hostel. One of the staffs members was very rude, screaming to the rest of the Colombia staff, calling them idiots and retards in English and speaking poorly of Colombians logic and way of doing things. As Colombian, I found it insulting.

Internet was terrible and one of the computers was broken which made it difficult to do our last minute bookings. The dorm I was in had no a/c and the fans were incredibly loud. The pool area was great though and you're only a few blocks from the beach and restaurants.

Amazing place. Beautiful building, pool, comfortable beds with personal lights, plugs, and shelves, as well as a TV room, and large showers. Security was excellent. Video entry, bag check with names and double checking, lockers in rooms. Only stayed one night but wish it could have been longer.

Cool place, lacked a bit of atmosphere and the rooms are hot but the pool is so nice and general feel of the place was chilled.. Would stay again!

Note that this hostel is not in Santa Marta, it is in nearby Rodadero (10-15 minutes away by bus or cab). This actually pleaspleasantly surprised us as there were seemed to be more Colombian tourists than anyone else. They advertise a cheap breakfast but I recommend you make your own or eat elsewhere. Overall the hostel is clean and very chill. We met a few people disappointed at the lack of a party but we welcomed the quiet after travelling though big cities.

Hostel was great but we really didn't like the surrounding town

Carroll's hotel is a very nice hotel in Rodadero, a few minutes away from the center of Santa Marta. Will cost you 10000 pesos by cab and 1200 by bus to go to the center. The hotel is conveniently located as it is close to the beach, restaurants, chivas, and bus

Carroll's hostel is a really nice place to stay! It has everything you need, and the rooms are really nice. It's really clean, and the supermarket is only 5 minutes away. I definitely would recommend this hostel!

This hostel is perfect! So clean, quiet, good bed, hot and powerfull shower, helpful staff, located in a nice area of La Candelaria. Only bad point is that the breakfast is paid :(

A fantastic hostel only minutes from a nice big beach with an real Colombian feel to it. Also very easy to get to other more quieter beaches and the Tayrona National Park. Staff are great and very helpful / knowledgeable. The hostel its self is a cool ex mafia house with by far the best rooms I have ever seen in a hostel. The whole hostel is super clean and truly a great place to chill out with a few beers. Clean big swimming pool is great in the heat of Santa Marta. Highly recommend this hostel

beautiful hostel, a little quiet during the week but i would imagine there would be a more of a party vibe when the bar opens on the weekend

Can't fault this place. It's a bit out of Santa Marta but there is plenty of shops and restaurants and a beach close by.

Really nice hostel! Stayed there on the last days of our trip. Beach is close, Mall is close, Supermarket is close, Internet is a bit crappy upstairs, cleaning lady is crazy because she cleans too long so you cannot access your room sometimes (especially if you stay in the house a day). But it is very clean and bathrooms are nice! Kitchen has everything you need but can get a bit cramped if everyone wants to cook. Maybe add more seating possibilities in the shade downstairs??

New place and defintely a great value for money. There are individual lights and charging plugs AT EACH BED in the dorm. Place was clean and very nice. Was a 1 million $ mansión before being converted to a hostel. They have option for AC in some dorms (not all) and have a pool (which was great)

A second stay at Carroll's, just as great as the first. Romeo the turtle is a huge flirt and fun to hang out with around the sparkling pool. The staff and owner are friendly and helpful. The kitchen is huge but still lacks a toaster and blender... big locking spaces in the dorms for backpacks would be a plus, but there are lockers and large closets in this former private home. The back dormitory shower door is flimsy... but the shower is large and clean. Overall Carroll's is great. Recommended!

Hi K.D Thank you for staying with us. It's means a lot to us that you enjoyed your stay at Carroll's Hostel and we are always happy to hear so. In a continual effort to improve our services we have now placed a toaster and blender in our kitchen to be used by the guests. Happy travels. P.S Romeo is indeed a huge flirt.

The staff was great, very friendly and helpful whenever you need. The a/c room is awesome and has the best bathroom i've ever seen in hostels in one year travelling for sure. Everyday they clean up the room and if you say it's okay they even put your stuff together. Have no words to describe the atmosphere, met incredible people who always ended up coming back to the hostel, especially after tayrona natinal park. Swimming pool is great for relaxing... Don't miss home made arepas from Sara!
