This hostel is perfect! So clean, quiet, good bed, hot and powerfull shower, helpful staff, located in a nice area of La Candelaria. Only bad point is that the breakfast is paid :(
A fantastic hostel only minutes from a nice big beach with an real Colombian feel to it. Also very easy to get to other more quieter beaches and the Tayrona National Park. Staff are great and very helpful / knowledgeable. The hostel its self is a cool ex mafia house with by far the best rooms I have ever seen in a hostel. The whole hostel is super clean and truly a great place to chill out with a few beers. Clean big swimming pool is great in the heat of Santa Marta. Highly recommend this hostel

Very good hostel. Clean, good location, safe, good facilities.
beautiful hostel, a little quiet during the week but i would imagine there would be a more of a party vibe when the bar opens on the weekend
Can't fault this place. It's a bit out of Santa Marta but there is plenty of shops and restaurants and a beach close by.
Really nice hostel! Stayed there on the last days of our trip. Beach is close, Mall is close, Supermarket is close, Internet is a bit crappy upstairs, cleaning lady is crazy because she cleans too long so you cannot access your room sometimes (especially if you stay in the house a day). But it is very clean and bathrooms are nice! Kitchen has everything you need but can get a bit cramped if everyone wants to cook. Maybe add more seating possibilities in the shade downstairs??
New place and defintely a great value for money. There are individual lights and charging plugs AT EACH BED in the dorm. Place was clean and very nice. Was a 1 million $ mansión before being converted to a hostel. They have option for AC in some dorms (not all) and have a pool (which was great)
A second stay at Carroll's, just as great as the first. Romeo the turtle is a huge flirt and fun to hang out with around the sparkling pool. The staff and owner are friendly and helpful. The kitchen is huge but still lacks a toaster and blender... big locking spaces in the dorms for backpacks would be a plus, but there are lockers and large closets in this former private home. The back dormitory shower door is flimsy... but the shower is large and clean. Overall Carroll's is great. Recommended!

It's a good hostel in a great location....and the staff are very helpful.
The staff was great, very friendly and helpful whenever you need. The a/c room is awesome and has the best bathroom i've ever seen in hostels in one year travelling for sure. Everyday they clean up the room and if you say it's okay they even put your stuff together. Have no words to describe the atmosphere, met incredible people who always ended up coming back to the hostel, especially after tayrona natinal park. Swimming pool is great for relaxing... Don't miss home made arepas from Sara!

A beautiful hostel with a friendly staff. Located in a huge former mansion, Carroll's features gorgeous landscape (2 big turtles roaming the grass), several patios, a pretty pool and nice common areas. The large kitchen lacks a toaster and blender, but has 2 refrigerators, a full stove, oven and microwave. One shared dorm has cold a/c, the other has beds with individual fans and lights. Private rooms available. Security camera at entrance. Close to shopping, buses and the beach. Recommended!
BEST HOSTEL EVER. Awesome pool and outdoor area. 8 bed dorm looks like it used to be the master suite of this villa and has a spacious and sparkling clean bathroom. There wasn't that much to see in Santa Marta, and the beach in Rodadero wasn't anything special, so we spent a lot of time hanging out by the pool.
Awesome swimming pool, bbq, facilities and staff. Fantastic dorm rooms with each bed having a light, power point, shelf and curtains to give you a nice private sleep - a backpackers dream ! Feels more like a resort than a hostel! Thanks to all the staff (especially our main man José for all his help). We have extended our stay by a week at this stage but may extend further. A must stay!
This is a model for all hostels. Its is a safe part of Santa Marta only a few minutes walk from super markets, bars, restaurants and a really nice beach (tones better than downtown). An easy 10 minute bus ride to the historic center and then a welcome 10 minutes back out of the chaos. Staff and the rooms were great and clean. We stayed in a dorm on the first night and then a private on the 2ed which was large and even its own balcony. 100% recommended. Thanks for all you help Carroll's.
The kitchen is well stocked and there are small lockers for your things. The air con in the dorm is arctic so you need to wear several extra layers in bed! It also went off at 5am rather than 8am...
This place has a lovely swimming pool, welcome in the heat and great communal areas. It also has a good kitchen to cook in. We stayed in a private room without bathroom, which was at the top of the house and very dark and small. The bathroom was at the bottom of the house so it was quite inconvenient. However, the dorms looked really nice so I would recommend this place if you stay in dorms. For a decent private room you may want to look elsewhere.
Really nice place, especially for a bit of a cilled atmosphere. It was quiet when we were there but still great. Staff were really helpful.
Nice, chilled out hostel with staff that speak Spanish and English and are always happy to help you! Nice location outside of Santa Marta but near enough to be able to visit all the cool places in the area like Tayrona and Minca.
So, the place is located in El Roduedero. Apart from a better beach than Santa Marta, there is not much to do around here. The Hostel itself however is beautiful. A really, really nice house, a great swimming pool (not that large, but still great), good chill areas and a great kitchen. Do expect to share the kitchen at dinner time with many other travellers.
