The hostel is great, have a nice common space and a good shower. The staff was awesome, I made a mistake by taking a short reservation than I wanted and they rearranged everything in minutes. The only downside is the location that is a little bit far from everything, but there are bus stops near that take you almost anywhere.

This is a great hostel! Wonderful staff - very attentive and knowledgeable. Beautiful location with awesome views. However, it can be tricky to get to the hostel. Highly recommend calling in a taxi and NOT just getting a taxi from the street. Hostel is at the top of the Santa Teresa hill and many cab drivers will take advantage of tourists asking for additional money once they arrive to the hostel. Bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas are very clean and nicely decorated. Highly recommend !

Helpful is the word to use here. You come needing to exchange money and they loan it to you. Where do you need to go...they make a list. THEY SPEND TIME CLEANING AND THEY MAKE A NICE BREAKFAST. for safety and security this is great. To go anywhere you have to take a bus, and the buses come often...so that is the price for the view , comfort and feeling safe. It is worth it.

The hostel was great! The staff was very attentive and it had a great atmosphere. Our room was very nice and big. It was very clean. The only problem for us was its location, because we had to take at least two buses to get anywhere. It doesn't have any markets or restaurants nearby (to get to the nearest market you have walk like 20 minutes). However, it does have the best view of Rio, so if you don't bother the distance it is really nice!

Amazing Value for money and also the staff where really friendly and could help you out with and problem and advise and where just really lovely. the location is ok, if your looking for a place away from the beaches. the view from their terrice is amazing and you can see christ and sugar loaf. there is a comby that takes you to the nearest metro station and that only costs R$2.50 and then its just a short hop on the tube for R$3.80 to either cochabana or ipanema.

This was a great hostel to be in another neighborhood and have a great view of the city, to meet fellow travelers, and take it easy. The hostel staff, especially Kiri, are super friendly and the group of people staying when I was there were extremely fun and friendly as well. A great experience and I'd stay again!

Amazing and multilingual staff right from the start. Very knowledgeable and thorough in answering our questions. Even if they are situated far from the beaches, the location is beautiful, easy accessed and the views are breathtaking. You can see all of rio right at the top balcony while having your yummy and complete breakfast. We definitely recommend this casa...infact we returned there once back in rio before the carnival.

We stayed here for 9 nights during Carnaval. We absolutely loved it here. The staff were so friendly and helpful, giving us loads of tips and booking tours for us when we were there. The atmosphere in the Casa was always chilled out and everyone got on great. Breakfast is fantastic. Location was a little way out of the central area but buses constantly ran past the house, so this wasn't an issue. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this place to stay. View of city also brilliant.

Not a single bad thing to say. Breakfast was great, staff were amazing, and the view was spectacular. At first we were scared it was in the middle of nowhere, but a quick shuttle ride down the mountain and your back in the city. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone and everyone. I wish we were going back to Rio so we could stay here again.

The hostel offers stunning views of Rio and Santa Teresa. The common room is great, and they serve a good breakfast with a priceless view and the ambience is friendly. Staff are helpful and smiling. Dorms are average, but the private rooms looked great. Its easy to get to the hostel ( mini-vans run every 15 minutes from Largo do Marchado). The beach is a bit far away though. Still, a very recomendable and beautiful place to stay!

Te best view i could expect from its terrace on the roof! You can see the christ as you relax with a cold beer (not that cold though). the staff was great, Rachel, Natalia, Kiri... Always helpful and giving us the right ideas... The dorms downstairs were not too good, but it made the trick, we wanted to sleep anyway. And it would also help to have more bathrooms. Anyway, great value for money, i would totally recomend it.

Great things: very helpful and friendly staff, wonderful breakfast (fresh juice, toast, fruit, eggs, cheese, homemade cake!), very clean, great views, monkeys in the kitchen, great roof terrace, quiet in the evenings (not a party place), free water and use of kitchen. Not so great: quite far from many things-you need to take a cab/bus/metro to get anywhere (unless you like walking a lot), no grocery store/restaurants close by, it is expensive (but maybe this is just Rio)

A good hostel located in Santa Theresa, even though ten minutes to reach the actual center of Santa Theresa by car, but it´s well-connected with buses that run from right outside the door. Great views from the roof of Sugar Loaf and Corcovado. The only thing is that I wish they did something more with the roof, as other than the views, theres not much in terms of atmosphere. I understand they have neighbours, as did all ther other hostels I stayed in, but a little love goes a long way.

we had such a great stay at casa 579. bear in mind that the hostel is located in santa teresa. meaning you need to take at least 2 busses to get to the beaches and it will take about 30mins depending on the traffic. but best view you will get in rio. especially during night time. staff is super professional, breakfast delicious and...coffee and tea for free. enough space and lockers for all your stuff, facilities are clean. worth a visit and stay!
