I stayed in Casa Chalia for 3 nights and loved my stay. The hosts are lovely and most welcoming, the breakfasts are nice in the garden. Though a little far from the zocalo, but I'd definitely stay here again if I'm in Merida.

Its impossible to fault this place. More of a b n b but at the price of a hostel. Jan and Linda are terrific hosts, extremely friendly and engaging. They prepare a made to order breakfast which is included in the price, and delicious dinners upon request para un poco precio tambien! About 5 mins walk from the 1st class bus terminal. U would be stupid to stay anywhere else while in Merida!

Best & cleanest gusethouse ever stayed at in ANY country! The owners,Jan and Rosalind, are always on site making sure you are comfortable and well-cared for while still respecting your privacy. Only 2 blks from ADO bus terminal;10 min. walk to Centro and the mercado;5 blocks from the famouscooking school,Los Dos (highly recommend you take a class there). But Rosalinda's cooking is the best so remember to reserve your seat for dinner at Casa Chalia.I stayed 3 wks & felt like family.

The owners are great! They make you feel like you are visiting a friend or family member. I felt very at home with them. Rosalinda offers to cook dinner for less than 6 USD. Her dinners are a must have! A full breakfast is served daily as well. You get a LOT for paying so little. I highly recommend this place.

A place worth staying. Rosalinda and Jan run this hostel clean and wellcoming. With a freshly prepared typical mexican breakfast every morning. And, if you wish so, dinner with everybody in the evening. We did not only enjoy our stay, we had the impression, that our hosts enjoy having guest. We stayed over "dia de los muertos" and they had prepared a piñata and a bbq for us. Any more questions?
