Very hard to find. It is just a place in someone's house. The landlord doesn't speak english, but she sure did know how to say "To Go" in English. When we first arrived she was saying check out time is 10:30. Well at 9:30am she kept yelling "To Go" and "Give Key" waking us up. The landlord also stood outside the door yelling until we finally came out and gave her the key. I think it should be a sign that we were the ONLY people staying there. Hot water also ran out quickly.

This is not a hostel, but the lower level of a woman's home. It is delightfully off of the tourist path and offers a very authentic venetian experience. It what a little hard to find (but what isn't hard to find in Venice), and the rooms were comfy and clean. The owner, although lovely, does not speak English, but you can still communicate most things you need. Great place for independent travelers, probably not the best place to stay for groups of kids looking to party.

At first day we spent 2 hours to find the location. As the direction which the owner gave us is not details. The room is dirty and the blankets are wet.The toilet with bath need share with 4rooms. The most angry thing is we was getting lost and be late to check out .(we tried to ask police to find the hotel but they can't help us too)The lady was scolding to us and took our luggage without our permission. And don't let us back to room to check. And probably lost a camera there.

Nice little place with all your basic needs, do not expect luxury . Location is very good , though slightly tricky to find on the first day but once u get there it is easy to remember. People are quite friendly and will to help u find the place. Close to the train station & boat/bus stop Owner is an friendly old lady, speaks only Italian but we could communicate easy while speaking in English.

Even if the owner (an old woman) is very kind, it is unfortunately a very dirty place.

I loved this place in a cute courtyard off a beautiful Square in a great location in Venice. Great for people who want a nice homely place as other reviews say it is a woman's house. Not for those who want a party hostel. Would stay there again in a second and definitely good value in Venice.

we had the best stay! The hostel is located in a tourist-clean area near a supermarket and good restuarants!

This is a very convenient place to stay in crazy Venice!! The place is a short-walk distance from Santa Lucia train station. Therefore you save the insane fee of the vaporetto. The woman running the place is very friendly, although she only speaks italian. The area where the house is located is charming and no much tourists are around. Also, there is a supermarket next door. Finally, some days before arrival we received a map in our emails that helped us to find the place without much hassle.

Well located room, but noisy channel below our window. Poor bathroom, thoyugh not very dirty. The owner is an old lady who only speaks Italian and she is sometimes unfriendly - though if you speak some Italian that will help

The hostel was well located beside a neighbourhood square and small shop. The room was bright and clean - perfect for those wishing to site see during the day and just need a bed at night. Very nice restaurants located nearby the hostel.

This guesthouse is a great choice if you go on a budget, the location is good, the room had a view to the canal and in the evening you can see gondolas passing by. The accommodation had free wifi connection. There is no breakfast but there is a supermarket downstairs. The lady who owns the house doesn't know much English, but you can manage with her. She was nice and helpful. Don't expect any atmosphere or fun, but a great stay in Venice for a Mestre price.

The room was clean but smelly. The shared bathroom was dirty, which is funny because there are cleaning products lining the walls. The shower curtain is covered with mould. If you brush your teeth in the main bathroom, hold your breath when rinsing your mouth as the basin smelt bad. The woman that owns the house kept coming into our room unannounced asking for her money as though we wern't going to pay. I heard her do this to the other guests too. Far too expensive for the standards she keeps.

If you want to try living in an old Venice house witth and feel history of this place it perfect place to stay. Just behind the window is a small canale. The place is in the very center of Venice but it's hard to find. Maps provided by the owner is misleading. The exact point on a google map is 45.44036,12.327446. When you reach it there is a small tunnel on the left to the COOP store.

Staying at Casa Chiumento was perfect as the location was very central and was in a gorgeous little campo with lots of shops and nice places to eat etc. I would suggest that clear directions to the hostel are placed on the website as it was quite hard to find.
