Just spent 6 relaxing days at Casa de Olas and have already recommended it to multiple people. I agree the hotel is a bit further from town than some may like, but this is what made it such an amazing get-away. I was able to get a taxi to town for 50-80 cordobas (about $2-3), could walk to Nica Yoga in ~20 minutes, and got connected with a surfing outing through Naked Tiger hostel, which is next door. Great food, low cost, generous hosts, beautiful & relaxed location -what more could you want?

2 thumbs up for Casa de Olas! Great view! Great vibe! Its great for a traveling surfer who likes to come home to a good meal and relax with a beer by the pool and not have to deal with a big party scene every night plus Carla and Fred are the best hosts in the world! I'll definitely come back one day to visit :)
