The breakfast area is very nice and the hosts are great. If you need a place to crash for a night (i.e., arriving in San Jose later in the day and leaving the next morning for a different area in Costa Rica), I would recommend this place.

It was our home away from home. Pierre and his wife treated us like family. They were very helpful with informing us of places to go and things to do. We will definitely stay here again.

Soulless atmosphere . Along with unheated rooms and not enough warm bedding I did not enjoy the night I spent there. Facilities were lacking since the supposed internet worked approximately 5 minutes. The public sitting areas are not amenable to socializing.

I was very pleased with Casa Girasol. It was nice, relaxing, clean and comfortable. The sitting/breakfast area and patio were particularly nice. The breakfast was sufficient with coffee, toast and jam and fruit. Pierre and Gina were very friendly, accommodating and helpful in providing tour and travel information. I would recommend it. This is a lovely home away from home, run by a lovely couple - Gina and Pierre. Pierre was up at 4:15am (with a chipper smile in spite of his sleepiness) to make me an early breakfast before my 5:00am cab ride to the bus station. The hostel (a very comfortably converted family home) is located in quiet residential neighborhood which is GREAT for catching up on much needed sleep. If you want peace and home away from home welcome and warmth, look no further than Casa Girasol!
