The hostel is located in central historical area, the staff were all extremely nice and helpful. The security was excellent with 24h concierge at the door. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The hostel has a very large open yard for meals and leisure, with many plants and even raised birds. Sitting there was very enjoyable. They have a very nice breakfast too.

Lovely place and great value for money. Located right in the historical center. I found the area to be much too busy during the day, but the Casa San Ildefonso was a nice oasis from that.. Ample facilities, quite clean and well taken care of. I stayed over a week and enjoyed it. They even offer massages on the premises one day a week (females only, though)! Try to get a room near the courtyard to have WiFi working in your room (although you might get woken up early by breakfast noise.

Beautifully renovated, so peaceful with the open air courtyard and enormous cage of finches, fountains. Good wifi, gracious family who has restored this building, immaculately clean.

We stayed in February at this lovely hostel and the staff couldn't has been more helpful. The hostel is very quaint, the rooms spacious and tidy and the breakfast is simple (cereal, juice, coffee and toast) but nice. The only downside I found was that it was quite chilly in the room at night. And the bathroom door was really squeaky! But would definitely recommend.

If you are looking for a laid back, secure, clean place in an amazing house close to all major attractions you found it! Staff is very helpful and friendly and it is more of a boutique hotel rather the hostel. Beds are so great! House is well equiped and lots of common areas to chill. Very good taste for decoration...Absolute yes to this place!

29/11-4/12 2013 Opened 1 month ago this hostel is perfect. It's clean, big room, separated, big bathroom (even for dorms) and addittional common bathrooms. Kitchen it is also clean, with bread, NUTELLA, peanut butter, butter, jam, fresh orange juice, fridge, microwave, the, coffey, milk. All the building is Mexican style: coloured, loved the warm Mexican blanket. The garden is nice and in the night with romantic candle. Staff is very kind. Night is cold, blankets are warm.

Great lace to stay! I love how timeless it is and how close it is to the main square in downtown (the Zocalo). Also, I was extremely happy to find out that they have a 'Jarocho' coffee shop next door! That's my favorite coffee place in Mexico and every time I go, I travel all the way to Coyoacan for it. Well when I arrived, I found one next door to the hotel!!! The room was comfortable and clean and the hotel is in great condition. Perfect if you are looking for a quiet stay in a great location!

Just lovely...quiet.. not a party place.Lots of room.charm.clean.very safe escorted to taxi @ end of street.staff extremely helpful and respectable..afternoon sunshine and avery of caneries chirping ;)

The hostel is very nice, it's near the zocalo (centre of the city). The street is pedestrian, so the taxi has to leave you on the corner and you have to walk about 100m. If you arrive at night there are no restaurants, fast foods nearby (only a small coffee shop right next to the hostel which was closed the night I arrived). The rooms are furnished nicely, the only thing is that our bathroom wasn't cleaned during the 3 days we stayed there.
