I had such a good time here, there really is nothing negative you could say about this place. All the staff were great fun and the food cooked by the chef Allan is first class yet affordable. I would definitely visit again made some good friends here.

The place was fantastic! I only stayed there for two nights and just booked directly afterwards. Definitely a place to go again. The staff makes you feel like home. Nothing to complain about, although there are no lockers- but you don't feel 'unsafe'.

Loved it here, the staff was great and I met a ton of fun people staying at this hostel. The rooms are new and bright, and the common areas are perfect for hanging out. Also the dinners they offer each night are great - would definitely recommend giving them a try. Overall - wonderful place. Thanks guys!

We had a private double room and it as simple but nice - the only thing to criticize here would be that the window was onto the patio. Therefore we had to close the curtain all the time, otherwise the people sitting out there would have been able see into our room. The meals at night are good value and it is nice to eat with other travellers. One more thing though, I think that the hostel is kind of expensive, but this might be more due to the fact that it is in Faro, than anything else.

The hostel was fun, friendly, clean and the dinners were delicious. No complaints whatsoever. Also the staff was great, especially Mariah who helped by teaching us Egyptian Rat Screw.

This is a wonderful hostel! A real home-away-from-home! The staff are so welcoming, taking the time to help with luggage, physically show you around, answer local questions, etc. The rooms are light and spacious (even the 12-bed dorm, which is actually two adjoining rooms). There's a great kitchen and common areas, with help create a really friendly communal atmosphere. Free wifi, free breakfast, a chef who prepares delicious dinners for 5-6 euro... I'd definitely recommend this place!

I really enjoyed this hostel! My advice to everybody is to EAT AT THE HOSTEL, amazing food, amazing atmosphere, and the staff is superb. The only problem is that there wasn't lockers to put my valuables in my room, which can be a bit dodgy. Made many friends at this hostel, the place comes alive at happy hour, very cozy, very friendly!

Just amazing. I planned on staying two nights, I ended up up staying one week. By far the best hostel I have ever been. Extremely friendly atmosphere, perfect to chill out or to visit the region. Very good food (cooked by great chef Allan). The only hostel I have seen where people actually come back because they liked it so much. Who thought only bars could have their regulars

We really had a great time in Casa d'Alagoa and in Faro: Great Hostel with a really well equipped kitchen; a great staff, clean, in the oldtown of Faro - ten minutes walk to the bus and train station. I would totally recommend the Casa d'Alagoa!!

Great hostel in a great location. The happy hour beer at the hostel (6-8 every night) and 5 euro dinners are a great deal and way to meet people. The hostel had a very social atmosphere without being too loud. The only issue is that there aren't lockers, so you might want to bring a luggage lock...although we didn't have any problems and didn't feel our stuff was unsafe at all.

Stayed here on two separate occasions recently and absolutely loved it! I didn't really know what to expect (their website could use some work) but it was so fun and enjoyable. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great food made nightly by the lovely Scottish chef, a very comfortable and inclusive atmosphere, and overall one of my favourite hostels I've stayed in so far. My only complaint is that the lockers in the bedrooms don't have locks, or a space for your own padlock.

Really excellent hostel. The best that I `ve stayed in in Europe. The hostel and staff was exceptionally warm and welcoming. The room was spacious and my bed was very comfortable. The dinner that the hostel offered was delicious and the vegetarian option was actually worth eating (some places are hopeless - but not here!). I would highly recommend Casa d`Alagoa and (even though I can`t compare it to other hostels in Faro) you`d be silly not to stay here!

Great, friendly staff and lovely easy atmosphere. Very good value for money. One night all the youth hostel went onto a local bar and had cheap drinks all night!!! Really recommend it.

What a highlight of my trip through Europe. This hostel makes you feel like family right away which makes sense since Faro is a very small city. A very cool converted house with tons of character; this hostel is a must for solo travelers. 5 euro meals every night cooked by the incredible Scottish chef Allan are served family style at a big round table so you will be friends with everyone in the hostel. We all went out to bars at night and even had a Sangria challenge one night (on a Wednesday!).
