Pretty hostel common area and small pool, but too many dorms in the dorm room - they are stacked 3 high! Not a problem when it\'s not full (like when I was there), but if it were, I can foresee problems with the number of bathrooms. A little pricey for what you get overall. The staff were ok, customer service could have been better, but a decent option in the old city and a/c and night was great.

It was pretty overpriced for what it offered. In a good, quiet location, but still too pricey.

The staff are really what make the place feel like home, very friendly and helpful. If I were to return to Cartagena, I would stay at Casa de la Chicheria again.

Casa de la Chicheria is a great place to stay as it is clean and safe. I was there for 2 weeks and it felt like home. Miriam and Angel are wonderful and will help with anything you need. The dorm room has bunk beds 3-high, but not to worry - there is plenty of space and the beds are comfy. Plus, the dorm has aircon every night which is necessary in Cartagena.

LOVED this hostel. It's 10 steps inside the wall, walking distance to everything, someone to unlock the door 24/7, hammocks over a fish pond, a pool inside the hostel, super clean bathrooms with HOT showers, internet, A/C at night, lockers, kitchen. I arrived at 8pm and spoke very little Spanish. Angel promptly called the manager who spoke to me in English, asked if I had any questions, then introduced herself with the next day with a handshake. She also arranged a bus to Santa Marta for us.

A very pleasant, airy hostel in an excellent location in the Hitoric Centre.

a very pretty hostel; on a hot day there's nothing like coming back "home" for a siesta and hanging out by the colorful pool or taking a nap in a hammock. the atmosphere is pleasant and quiet; when i was at chichería there were only a couple other people in the room and the two bathrooms seemed to be enough, might be a bit crowded though if the house is fully booked. if you travel in pair, i'd recommend the private room, it looked pretty and spacious. i also loved the location.

I came to Cartagena to relax after a long working week in Bogota, and it was the ideal place, with a relaxed atmosphere nice and quiet and with a helpful staff. Thanks for a great stay!

An absolutely amazing stay! Awesome staff, awesome hostel. So beautiful and in the walled city (the place to stay in Cartagena). The dorm worked great for me. Met a lot of friends here as well. Plus Miriam, the wonderful gal who works here, can arrange for you a stay at a new hostel on the island Isla Nasa (Islas del Rosario) which was one of my best experiences in Colombia. Truly recommend this place! I booked two nights but ended up staying a week :)

I had the most awesome time at Casa de La Chicheria! Everything about it was great, from the impossible to beat location to the attention and overal vibe of the staff. Miriam and Angel made sure that I had absolutely everything that I needed. I can't wait to be back to Cartagena and Casa de La Chicheria. Cheers, Fabio

I have been travelling for a year and this is by far the best hostel/hotel I have stayed in. It is so peaceful and tranquil a little bit of heaven in Cartagena. I was due to stay 4 days and stayed almost 2 weeks. I couldnt leave. This isnt a party place but I met a great group and we used the pool and had BBQ\'s. Both the manager Miriam and porter Angel are great! I would go back in a heartbeat!

A very nice option in a central yet quiet neighbourhood in beautiful Cartagena. We stayed at the double private room with no complaints - it might look overpriced, but it is good value for the excellent, safe location. Staff is friendly and helpful. Very recommended.

Very clean hostel. Clean sheets and bedding. Staff that cleaned the place during the day while most guests were gone. Great location. Not sure if the staff was possibly upset that I had invited 2 of my Colombian friends in to sit down during the afternoon.

Good place to be, toilet to small to so many people.

This hostel was amazing and exceeded my expectations. It is in a great part of town and is a relief for travelers. The hostel looks like it belongs on the banks of the Mediterranean with a small pool and hammocks over a fish pond. There is even a little bit of hot water in the shower and air conditioning in the dorm. The owner and head of house are very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Highly recommended.

The staff, especially Amelia and Angel, made our stay extremely pleasant. They were so helpful in booking tours, recommending places to eat, and arranging transportation. We had an excellent stay in cartagena and definitely recommend this place!

Beautiful hostel that feels more like a hotel, comfy beds, a decent kitchen and spotlessly clean. Slightly lacking in atmosphere with no a whole lot of socialising going on, but if you're looking for a quiet relazing stay then it is perfect.

We had a wonderful stay at Chicheria. The staff were phenomenal and able to answer any questions we had. The hostel itself is in a great location. I had lost a pair of opal earrings and a phone charger, and the staff located the items immediately when we returned to check if I had left them there. I would definitely recommend la Chicheria!
