Fantastic hostel with great value. Tehar at the hostel is extremely kind and warm, he gave us a better room without extra charge to put our group on the same floor. This is the best place and most surprisingly good accommodation choice of our whole trip.

Hostel is placed in Old Medina, very beautiful localisation. It has an amazing, warm atmosphere and you feel like at home there. The owner and staff (Noman!) are very helpful in every aspects (we asked for so many things and they always helped us with a smile on their faces) and you can always count on their advices. I will highly recommend this place to everyone who wants to enjoy time in Chefchaouen :)

The installations are perfect! There is attention to every single detail, bathrooms, showers, rooms even the terrace are in perfect conditions and cleanliness. The main reason I would recommend to saty is the staff though, both Mohammed and Nouaman are the best ever. They greeted me by name before I had even checked in. Their priority is to make you feel just at home and when you travel so much, its good to feel like someone's got your back. I'd stay here again no doubt!

Mohamed was very helpful in recommending places to eat at a god price . He also helped us arrange to get a grand taxi to Tangier whith was much appreciated. The only thing that could use some improvement is the cleanliness of the showers and bathrooms. However overall a very good experiance. Great value for money.

What a fantastic spot with a gorgeous view from the rooftop terrace. The owner, Mohammed Ali, was incredibly helpful organizing taxis for us for an out of town day trip and to our ferry in Tanger. Cozy rooms, tasty food and smiling faces...I highly recommend!

Mohamed was the greatest host! He brought us tea throughout the day, showed us a great place to eat and took us to the bus station. There was heating in the rooms and the rooftop view was beautiful. One of the greatest stays!

We had an amazing time at this hostel. Mohammed Ali and his family were so hospitable and lovely. Would come back in a heartbeat! Thank you for an amazing time!

Mohammed (the hostel owner) was an excellent host. He made good suggestions for restaurants and cafes, and even walked us to one when we arrived late at night on the first day. He also arranged bus tickets to Tanger and drove us to the bus station. Although the rooms were small (lacked storage space), the general atmosphere was still very cozy. I just hope they have consistent hot shower. In the three days that we spent there, the hot shower only worked once (lasting only 5 minutes).

Fantastic location, best rooftop terrace in town. You can chill out all day and watch the mountains, river, Spanish Mosque and daily life go by Often Mohamed Ali and his friends play beautiful music. He makes sure his guests enjoy their stay. He also prepares yummy meals and tea So if you're looking for a comfortable place to relax after the craziness of Fes or Marrakesh or simply just want to chill out, I recommend treating yourself to a private room with a mountain view for a few days

One of the best stays we've ever had! To say the least, you will be hard pressed to find a nice, clean, comfortable place with a great staff as well. The owner was kind and generous but also very attentive - on many counts would share extra food that was brought from his family. We stayed in Chefchaouen for 4 nights and the location was great to get around anywhere in town or to simply watch the children play. Highly recommend staying here - you will not be disappointed!

The roof-top is nice with a great view and the owner really takes care that you feel welcome. Nearby is a parking (20dh/24h) so if you are with a car/bike it is a good option.

Wow - how much did we love our stay at Casa el Rio? There's not enough space to write it all, but staying here is the best decision you can make. Can't say enough wonderful things about the hostel owner, Muhammed Ali. He was a generous host from start to finish: upon arrival offered us to join him and his father for Friday couscous (from his grandma!), and was supremely helpful. We ended up staying an extra day because of how much we loved it here! Be sure to visit Akchour and wander the medina.

The only complaint we have regarding our mid-October stay at Casa del Rio is that our rooms (both of them) were VERY COLD. There was no additional bedding in the room, only a sheet and thin blanket.
