I stayed in a double room and the top bunk was very high and the ladder very short which made it difficult to get on the top bunk, as nothing to really hold onto, so didnt feel safe sleeping on top, I am in my 60s, and pretty fit.

Great, safe location in Ipanema and like the fact that breakfast is served until 3pm each day. The hostel is quite clean but some of the facilities a little run down.

Lovley breakfast lots to go around great staff very helpful with how to get around. clean and tidy stayed for 3 weeks and had a great time. Would recommend casa ipanema 6 but hostel right next door is exactly the same for a little less, Putting the price up on weekends was not value for money.

The bathroom floor was always flooded. The room was very hot and noisy. The price is very high compared to other hotels in the area. For the same price and just a block from the hostel, we got a much better hostel, with better breakfast, better facilities, air conditioning in the room and clean bathrooms and showers.

First of all , all Argentinians have to know that payment on arrival is cash . You stayed 4 nights and it is true that the double room you had has a new ensuite since January 2013 and we still did not make it 100% perfect on heavy rain . We are working on it ! Sorry !

It felt like a battery farm. 6 people (2 triple bunks) in a tiny room with only 6sqm floor space and nowhere to put your luggage. Horrible! Worst place we stayed in during our 2 months by far!

My single room was more or less OK but the fan was too noisy and the temparature was just to high altough the fan was directly above the bed. I couldn´t sleep because of the heat. An AC would help a lot in this small room.

I stayed one night in a private room, which is in an appartment one block from the hostel. Location is perfect, the room was very good, clean and safe. A little expensive though. Can't tell anything about the hostel atmosphere, as the appartment was not in the same building. The staff was helpful enough, but I didn't interact much with any of them, and didn't ask for much help either.

Stayed here for one night only - just like Elvis. Not a fan of 3 high bunk beds as i stayed on top bunk and it was like sleeping in a coffin - only a few feet of room up there. The breakfast in the morning is top notch and kitchen facilities fantastic.

I enjoyed my stay at this hostel so much that I came back again at the end of my holiday. There was a nice relaxed atmosphere and the free all day breakfast was good. My favourite member of staff was the guy with the longer hair. The Santos fan. Very friendly. Not sure of his name sorry.

Reservation for February 2013 was made and paid (10% booking fee) on October 2012. By ringing the hostel a month before I was informed my reservation was cancelled and that the US$170.23 I paid in October 2012 regarding the Carnivals booking would not be reimbursed.

Owner Comment (Show)
How do you call a person that after receiving around 5 e-mails and talking to her personally in November 2012 , tells you in February :"I never talked to you !" ... I will call her a l... Anyway every one will see as doing the booking : For Carnival (Minimum 5 nights booking:8th,9th,10th,11th and 12th of February 2013) and one week after , Easter , Brazilian Holidays , New Year s Eve (Minimum 4 nights booking 29th,30th,31st and 01st) and one week after and World Youth Day 2013 (Minimum 6 nights:23rd,24th,25th,26th,27th and 28th of July 2013) an e-mail will be sent to you about how to make the full advance payment as soon as possible ! And there will be no refunds.................................................. Stephane.

Location is wonderful with many food places, shopping and the beach nearby. After carnivale the neighborhood was very quaint with all ages of people from young to old smiling and walking the streets. The rooms only have fans so be prepared for a warm sleep. There is little space in the rooms especially when full with 6 people. No bed bugs, overall pleasant stay.

Loved the location and the charm of the hostel, and REALLY loved the late breakfast, which was perfect during Carnival. But you really need better aircon/fans in rooms and better security. Also not so impressed with the 3-bed bunk-beds - not a fun experience!

The breakfast was really good, also the location and the staff. I did not like the fact we were accompdated in an apartment away from the hostel but as we wanted to "go with the flow", we let it be (the ideia of booking a hostel is because you wanna meet people or be close to them...). Our room had a tv but there was no door on the bathroom and that was really the only fact that made me think the price was not correct or the info provided (double with bathroom) was not correct.

Owner Comment (Show)
You were in a double room ensuite with total privacy. It is true that in this room I did put a kanga wich is a pareo as a curtain-door.And from the 4 double rooms ensuite , this one is the only one with a cable TV at no extra cost.

Great location in Ipanema by restaurants and bars. Facilities were good, though the triple bunk beds make it a bit cramped. The owner was very nice and helpful, but the rest of the staff was hit or miss and it wasn't an overly social atmosphere with other guests.

Owner Comment (Show)
We have 4 areas for social atmosphere,2 kitchens, the reception and the T.V room.As a respond to an earlier review,we do have today a reading light at each bed......Come to Rio,come to Casa6ipanema and tell me what I can improve ! ...........Thanks of the owner Stephane.

2/3 of the staff we met were very unfriendly. The room we had booked did not match our expectations according to the pictures we'd seen online. There were insects (smal worms) in our beds. The recepiton was untidy and messy. I would NOT recomend anyone booking this place.

Sometimes at night, the lights attract Cupim Voador ...there are totally harmless and part of a tropical weather. You stayed in a double room ensuite exactly as the picture you saw on the website you booked.Sorry to say that my staff said you were not friendly as well.I am the owner, you stayed 3 nights but we did not meet or either you tried to talked to me.It remembers me of a couple complaining on the web but being very nice in front of me...........Stephane.

very expensive for the overall quality. No cleaning of the rooms. Approximative breakfast. The staff is ... trying to grab some money to you through very basic services. Don't ask them for a taxi, they call their friends (fake taxi and expensive trip). I do not recommand this hotel at all. Hopefully, Rio is Rio

You had a double room ensuite at 260 reais per night. We do not enter private room unless you ask for cleaning...you have a sign about it inside the room.We ask 60 reais for a taxi to take you to GIG Airport but feel free to take one in the street,it should be cheaper, around 50 reais.Your booking was for 2 nights...Once again,if you feel something is wrong, ask reception.About our breakfast, sorry it is just so delicious.................Stephane,the owner.
