This was a wonderful place to stay. We ended up in an apartment-style place with our own room and shared bathroom and kitchen facilities with four other people. The owner, Elaina, met us with a high level of energy and enthusiasm. You can tell that she loves what she does! She recommended some wonderful restaurants that added to our wonderful and memorable experience in Lagos. I would definitely recommend this place to others!This was a wonderful place to stay. There are two building with this hostel. The first is right downtown and very centrally located. The second (which we were placed in) is further out of town- about a 10 minute walk. not horrible, but I would have rathered the first building. We stayed at Casa Amarela for 6 nights and loved every moment of it. We had our own private room which looked out onto the garden and pool. Its in a great location, right in the centre of Lagos, close to bars, restaurants, beaches. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Def go here if you are staying in Lagos. Upon arrival we were given all kinds of information about Lagos. The room, bathroom, kitchen and house were cleaned EVERY day, they made our beds, gave us fresh towels, it felt great after a day in the beach, and they even did our washing for 5 euros - GREAT! We really don't have anything bad to say about "amarella", will definitely go back. Staff were very helpful in finding appropriate accommodation at late notice. Apartment was in very close proximity while very quite area. Being in a small place meant that there was not much socialising in the apartment but still lots of people to meet in town. Could have done with a cleaner popping in to check toilet roll etc and a safe would have been nice, but seemed secure anyway.
