IGNORE PREVIOUS REVIEWS – THE HOSTEL JUST CHANGED OWNERSHIP AND WAS TERRIBLE 1. Now student accommodation, not a hostel. Few guests or staff around. 2. Given the wrong key for the room and only discovered when we returned back from our evening meal. No staff in the building, no response to email or mobile phone. Only got into our room after finding the spare key box unlocked (not very secure...) 3. Scant breakfast e.g. 1 slice of cheese per person 4. Outside of the main tourist area.

The lounge room is a bit small (no couches, just tables) and the bathroom always smells damp but otherwise it was fine. The owner was friendly and helpful despite the not so friendly notices on the wall (can only leave bags if arriving early, can't use any facilities until check in and same for check out unless you pay 4500 pesos). The location wasn't right in the centre but it was relatively quiet and the metro is close and cheap. We met some great people staying here too. Would recommend.

Good little hostel in an easy location of Valpo, close to the train station, easy walk to the main attractions and center. On a busy street, but you should be used to sleeping through noise if you stay in hostels! Great breakfast served individually. Kitchen is supposed to be closed at 10 but was often open later (thankfully, since we eat late!)! Small movable bedside tables are the "lockers" but room doors lock as do the two main doors... Nice lounge with big tv for vegging out! Overall good :)

Nice, helpful staff. Close to the metro to get to vina del mar and walking distance from the hills (Cerros).

Hostel was ok, breakfast was very good (ham & cheese sandwich, in addition to the classics - milk, cereals, jam), location was fine, close to the terminal, but rather far from the tourist areas and in an area that seemed a bit suspicious looking at night. I arrived there one night at about 2 am alone and nothing happened, though. Staff was helpful.

I come from New Zealand we 1st stayed at Casabella in Nov 2011 for 5 days & again for another 5 nights in March. We don't speak Spanish. The owners Rich and Lill helped us get our motorcycles through customs & assisted us with dealing with the shipping comp. Lill keeps the hostel spotless. Lill has decorated the hostel and as result the hostel feels very homely. The location is great. Quiet at night. Really nice breakfast. I would defiantly recommend this hostel to my friends.100% ++ .

very nice hostel. Nice staff, good location and really special caracter to the hostel. really feels like your staying at a friends house. Breakfast is regular but with the option to have more. Really close to the bus station and supermarkets. lovely place.

Nice hostel with very nice and helpful staff. The location is a bit far from the cerros which are the main attractions in Valparaiso. I would recommend this hostel to those that are budget conscious and don't need to be in the thick of the action!

Casabella is a small beautiful hostel only 5 blocks from the bus station and not too far from the hills, if you don't mind walking. The breakfast is very good and the beds and rooms clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and accomodating. I fell ill the day we were due to leave and they accomodated me with ease, always asking how I was and making sure there was an available room for me. I can't recommend this hostel enough, I would certainly stay here again without hesitation.

It was Ok, thoough the room was really hot even with the window open (which made me get bitten by mosquitos). What I found most dissapointing was the breakfast, described at their site as "healthy"... i expected some fruit and instead you got an artificial juice, some plain cornflakes and a bread with cheese and ham... Couldn´t find the healthiness there...

Only stayed for one night but really enjoyed it. The room was perfectly acceptable, but what made tbe hostel great was the staff, who were very accomodating and did that bit extra to help. Breakfast was nice too...

The hostel is nice, but it is not in the center of town (easy walking distance to the bus station). This was ok for me as I like it a bit quieter. There was almost no one staying at the hostel when I was there which was weird. The room was nice, comfortable bed, washrooms were very clean. The staff were good and friendly. Overall it was hard to get a really good feel for the place just because there were so few people around.

Helpful and friendly bi-lingual staff. Since it is small, it has a cozy feel to the hostel. Very good breakfast and good place to relax!
