Great location in beautiful old town. Easy to find. Great Internet access. Good chill out hostel. Arrived after hours, but instructions easy to follow!

Friendly staff and a superb location right in the old town. The hostel like you not to use the kitchen or common room and keep quiet after 11pm but are not too strict about it! I would stay again. No breakfast included but there is a lot of communal food (marked with an X in the kitchen) including coffee and cornflakes etc. The local cafe also does a good breakfast at a discount 55SEK for hostel guests. The toilets can be busy, especially the one with a shower so you might have to wait.

One of the best located hostels I've ever stayed in - right next to a charming quiet square in old town. Very friendly and down to earth front desk staff (Sanne?) gave me tips for what to visit, including an amazing vegetarian restaurant with a view of the city. Let me stick around, stow by bags, and use the internet after checking out. Also stayed at the Archipelago hostel down the street and this experience was much better. A little expensive but standard for Sweden.

There were too many rules writen on the walls, which made feel us a bit uncomfortable. Everybody is required to go to sleep at 11 p.m. the latest. There was not friendly atmosphere as usually in the rest of hostels. It is al so very expensive and you even need to pay extra for the sheets.

The location was good and the room was nice. We were on the ground floor and it was really quite. It is really nice being able to stay right in the center of the old city. My only two complaints is that the wi-fi didn't work very well in our room, so we had to sit outside the room to use it. But there were tables to sit at. And the kitchen was on he 2nd floor. So I had to go all the way up to the second floor to do something simple like fill my water bottle. Otherwise, we had a nice stay.

Great hostel -- amazing facilities, top notch showers! And the location can't be topped. Little bit of a security issue; the reception isn't 24 hour so when one tenant got very, very drunk we had to end up calling the police. Fun times! But that was very much the exception and not the rule; I'll definitely be coming back to Castanea whenever I return to Stockholm.

Everything I could ask for: very clean, nice facilities, wi-fi was good, terrific location. The downsides are: staff is only available during daytime hours (can be tricky to check in late), and the lockers are not big enough to fit a suitcase...just a big tote bag. Also it's not the most social place since it requires being quiet after 11pm. But if you are looking for clean and quiet, this is the place!

Beside a very Strange Constitution underneath the ceiling of our room which seems to be a gigantic silvery glittering Pipeline for an Air condition ,everything else was quiet nice. The Location in Gamma stad is Great and the facilities are simple but clean.you can hear eveything from the neighbourooms but all the People were quiet and peaceful, so we slept very well. I would Return to Old castanea and recomend it although its quiet expensive for a hostel

The hostel is very small and crowded. There aren`t enough toilets and the common areas are definately not cleaned often enough. I wasn`t happy with hygiene. It got so busy we had to wait ages for the kitchen and the bathroom in the mornings. On the plus side though, the location is unbeatable, it is right in the middle of the oldest part of Stockholm. Very pretty. Staff are lovely and the athmosphere is really upbeat. I don`t think I would go back though.

The hostel is in excellent location if one wants to spend more time in Stockholm's old Gamla Stan neighborhood. I think maximum 2 nights would be enough. ( I spent 3 nights there). The staff were friendly but they were there only during the day time. For some unknown reasons, they did not give me the hostel exterior door security code but only the interior door code. Luckily, a waiter from next door cafe came out for a cigarette break and let me into the building. Same thing happened to others.

The hostel is nice a very well located. The only bad point is that it smells really bad in the common room at ground floor, so that we couldn't use it.

The hostel is really nice. Clean, very well located and with decent beds. The negatives are the poor atmosphere and lack of any kind of included breakfast.

Everything was perfect. Toilets and showers always clean. The kitchen is a real kitchen full of stoves, forks and everything else... There is also a microwave oven. Since the hostel is in gamla stan is very close to quite everything, very comfortable. We slept in the big room (14 people) but everything was ok! I would recommend this hostel!
