Castanea Old Town Hostel Reviews

I slept in the 14 dormitory and saw quite a lot of people who used the bed sheets without puting the cover into it. Often it resulted that during movements at night they had direct contacts with the bedcover. May be cleaning personel can keep an eye on that and put an reminder to people that it is thought to put the cover into the bedsheet. It is also a cultural question. In some countries, this seems to be ok...I find it more hygynic to be covered completely by bedsheet. Thanks again!

I had a very pleasant stay at the hostel - very good and friendly management, conveniently located lockers inside the dorms, comfortable beds, nice and cozy common areas, etc. Areas of improvement: 1. Should have hooks in the bathrooms and toilets to hang clothes 2. Should try having one strong Wifi connection, rather than three with connection strengths varying according to your location inside the hostel 3. Should make it easier for the travelers to find the hostel

Very friendly helpful staff, double rooms very very small, could not open both our suitcases fully otherwise we could not close the doorwe were told they were small . Great location. Would recommend it and stay again, hopefully there will be less Americans staying.

Great character filled hostel in the heart of the Old Town. Staff were super friendly. Lockers provided. I stayed in a 14 bed dorm and got plenty of sleep. Nice common room but would have been better if there was a TV as a bit quiet.

Friendly staff, free internet and maps. We stayed for 3 nights in the 4-bed room downstairs. It was clean and really calm since the kitchen and common rooms are upstairs. The showers are really fresh upstairs and less fancy downstairs. Best location in town in the old city, close to the metro Gamla Stan. I'm from Sthlm, living abroad and just home for a visit with some friends, and I would really recommend this hostel!!

If you like quiet and clean place to stay, this will be the perfect place. Quite exceptional in fact for a youth hostel which used to be dirty and noisy. However if you really enjoy meeting and talking to people in a youth hostel, this place could be a little too quiet.

I loved the feeling of the place. Very homey and comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and more then willing to help me out.

There were not sufficient toilets and showers for the number of rooms. The kitchen was also tiny, so this place might not suit if you intend to cook a meal. I didn't like the breakfast that they recommend in the adjoining cafe, but it did come with a discount. Otherwise it was a nice hostel.

It was like staying in a nice apartment that had a few extra spare rooms. Our room wasn't exactly big but it was more than adequate, well furnished and perfectly clean. It would have been handy to have a sink in the room but that is a very minor issue.

They have a hostel-wide curfew of 11pm for everyone. Gross. No one needs parents while they're on vacation.

Castanea Old Town Hostel is my most disappointing stay for 31-day, 5 countries European trip at 6 hostel/hotels (1) Room # 11 allocated to me which is not suitable for living. same wall with kitchen, making nuisens noise on kitchen door closed and guests using kitchen. It is really too annoying for 5 nights of stay.It's design error. (2) One combided bath & toilet room have no metal-hooks for arranging bathing accessories. (3) Main Entrance lightings must be changed to operate in sensor designa

Excellent location! Very clean and well-maintained, a comfortable feeling. Not as much character as other hostels, due to being a suite in a building, but the great location makes up for it.
