Great little hostel. Clean, few people to a room, no bunk beds, free wifi, great staff. Good indeed stay again

Brilliant hostel. We spent 6 nights here and were very happy and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We booked two trips out, which was very easy and they gave us a ride in the minibus to the collection points for both of them. The whole atmosphere of the hostel is good and the facilities excellent. We also made use of the free meal each night, at the Woolshed in downtown Cairns. Everyone staying at the hostel was very relaxed and also very friendly. Definitely recommended.

If you stay three nights or more, you get to know the staff and most guests at the hostel very well. very nice small hostel, with plenty of space in each dorm.

Great place! Clean bed, clean cooking facility, friendly guests from all over. Arrived late, staff arranged for "hidden" key for me, printed clear, concise instructions & paid balance in the AM. Secure room to store my stuff while I walked to van-hire to pick up hired van. NO hassles, great, friendly staff. Not bad for a one-nighter!

Castaway's is a great hostel. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about Cairns and the activities there are to do in the area. They helped me book a diving tour of the reef that was absolutely amazing. The hostel itself is a bit away from the main retail area of the city, but they do provide a shuttle bus several times a day to get you back an forth. It is a quieter hostel, so if you're looking to party, this may not be the place for you.

Great Hostel, one of the best I've stayed in. Incredibly friendly/knowledgeable staff. Very clean. Free tea & coffee. Nice pool! The only real downfall is the fact that it's a bit out of the way of town; however, it's really only about a 10-15 minute walk and if you aren't feeling up to the walk, the hostel offers a scheduled shuttle service throughout the day, and the public transit stop is just across the road!

Very clean and quiet hostel with friendly staff and spacious rooms. Very good value for money.

this is a little far from the city center (~2km to the transit mall). However, it's $2.20 by bus and ~$10 by taxi.
