Hostel had three computers, but only two worked. All computers were at least five years old meaning it was a challenge just checking email. The heater could not be turned off in the room forcing the occupants to open the window letting in the cold Scottish air which neigh froze the people closest to the window during the night. Other than these issues it was a wonderful experience and a hostel I will be sure to stay at again.

Double was tiny with a hard mattress - bathrooms shared which i don't mind however could imagine others would find a little contronting re showering! Communal facilities EXCELLENT and staff very friendly. Would recommend.

LOVED EVERYTHING ....except the joint bathroom/showers area. To be fair, it wasn't alarming like a locker room (no nudity involved!) but it was just annoying that there wasn't a place where girls could get ready with some privacy without guys walking in around them to the toilet or showers.

Very cliquey. Great building. Good size, but didn't quite feel welcome. Lots of long termers stay here - mostly Spanish and Aussies - not in itself the issue but felt the language barrier was a problem and also when you go into an environment where people live there full-time i suppose they end up perceiving you as encroaching into their 'home', their territory. Maybe because i am a bit older than most of the staff and residents (i'm 35) perhaps that was a reason why i never felt included.

The staff was well prepared for our visit. They took care before we arrived to ensure that we were in the same room with the individuals we booked with. Most impressive however, was that they were aware that their staff would like to celebrate Australia Day and thus made sure our check-in time didn't collide with a period of understaffing.

Fantastic hostel in a perfect location, staff were especially friendly and were very informative about the nearest attractions. Hostel is also packed full of things to do, and the room we stayed in was more than comfortable, only complaint, which is very minor, was a tissue found under my quilt!

Rooms were clean & comfortable, electric sockets next to every bed which is useful, bunk beds weren't squeaky, however they are difficult to get into in the dark after a few beers... and there is no rail on top bunk so easy to roll over and fall out! I didnt however.... The location was great, front door looks out onto Ediunbugh castle, some nice restaurants and pubs nearby.

It was excellent. The only problem was smallness of the room and when we arrived the hostel the sheet were dirty, but after telling them about the sheets they changed immediately.

Hi, Thank you so much for being this hostel. I really enjoyed myself. I had 2 small problems. first the window in 45 rattles, second, the toilets didn't always flush very well. However, I greatly enjoyed the staff and the hot chocolate. I also made some good friends here. Thanks again.

This has been the best hostel I have stayed at yet. It's lively, safe, clean and excellent value. I recommend this hostel wholeheartedly. As a solo traveler, safety with good value is imperative and this hostel served both those needs and exceeded my expectations. There are plenty of other young people there so it's easy to make friends and the hostel hosts free walking tours around Edinburgh and offers many activities. The rooms are clean and comfortable with safe boxes and lockers in each room
