Fantastic hostel for an incredibly bargain price!

It is a great hostel and I would definitely recommend it. Perhaps the cleanliness of the common areas could be improved, and the staff could be a bit more friendly. Apart from that, all good!

Great hostel! Love the castle theme, fantastic common rooms, free tea and coffee, decent wifi, awesome location! Biggest complaint is the kitchen is closed for use for 11-1 which (for me) was inconvenient and no free breakfast BUT breaky is offered on site for a low price. Overall very impressed :)

Great hostel - friendly staff, very clean, great location.

Excellent hostel, I really enjoyed it! My only comment concerns power points: 4 (including one out of service) for a 14-bed room is clearly not enough! Otherwise, the building is amazing, well-managed and with a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

The most perfect hostel ever visited. Every hostel should aim to be like this one. Really enjoyed my stay.

The Hostel was fantastic. Staff was nice. Tea and Coffe were always provided. Nice lounge, kitchen and dining area to relax,talk and meet interesting people. The room and bathrooms were tidy and quiet. I will definitely come again. Great location next to the castle and cheap.

Good value for the money. Staff wasn't terribly knowledgeable. Don't stay in a mixed dorm if you're a female - high risk of molestation.

Everything is good, the hostel is just two minutes from castle, the common room has nice atmosphere. But no wifi in room is a bit inconvenience.

Had such a great chilled out stay at castle rock. It felt like a retreat because of the lovely atmosphere. I would highly recommend this hostel in Edinburgh its bang in the middle of the old town the most magical part of the city so all the nice eating places and pubs etc are right on your doorstep. The building ouses character and each room is full of art work and interesting things. I would just go back there for a holiday and make that my base to enjoy it.Great stay thanks to all the staff.

Great hostel very near Edinburgh Castle and places to eat. It had a lot of character and very cool rooms and lounges.

A great place to stay, simply could not be in a better location! Very friendly staff, great shower facilities. I stayed in a 10 bed girls dorm, very spacious

The staff were nice but they were 45 minutes late setting up breakfast one morning, which was annoying. The fridges were all packed and stinky, but the rest of the hostel was pretty clean, and I liked that they do your laundry within the day for a reasonable price!

One of my favorite hostel stays so far! The place is totally laid back & a great atmosphere for meeting people. The huge, completely stocked (dishes, appliances, refrigerators, etc.) kitchen was a huge bonus, and the lounge area was a great place to hang out. The free hot chocolate, tea, and coffee was a great plus, too. The location can't be beat (right near the castle end of the Royal Mile), either! The only bad things were a slightly hard bed & the WiFi goes out at night. I can't say enough!
