Comes with a nice large locker in room for free (uses a key you are given upon arrival). Breakfast isn't anything fancy, but so cheap it may as well be free. Beds were a little too hard with thin mattresses, but it's made up for by the really really friendly staff and super chill atmosphere. Lots of toilet and shower stalls in the shared bathrooms on each floor, but it can get a bit crowded at times. Great location and well priced, would definitely recommend.

Castle Rock hostel was without a doubt one of the best hostels I have been to. Location is perfect, staff was genuinely friendly and looked after their guests well, they organise lot of activites and the atmosphere in the hostel is amazing. I was traveling alone and only stopped at Edinburgh for one night but within 15min had already made plans with room mate for the night. Perfect stay! Only thing I'd wish to have if were there for longer would be curtains for beds but that's not necessary.

Great hostel for a solo traveler or group.

Probably the best hostel I've stayed in. Great vibe, you can tell the owners are backpackers themselves. Inexpensive laundry and towel rental. Great lounges and rooms to chill and meet people. Clean rooms, comfortable beds and showers. Right next to the castle too! HIGHLY recommended if you stay in Edinburgh!

Loved it here! Great location, close to everything. Staff were very friendly. Need a card to be buzzed in the front door. Showers were separate from the rooms but each was big and very private. Common room had free tea and coffee and was a great place to hang out. Wifi was pretty crappy at busy times when a lot of people were using it like the evening. It is RIGHT next to Edinburgh castle and right on the Royal Mile where there are a ton of shops and restaurants. Would stay again!

I enjoyed a lot my stay at this hostel, the room was spacious even though it was 12 bed shared room and it has a great view.

Excellent location and good value for money. Right near castle and good pubs nearby. The ghost tour and Edinburgh Castle, is a must.

Very lovely experience, good location, clean, organised and nice staff! Just two improvements to make, more hooks to hang clothes etc. in the toilets and inside the room and also it would have been nice to have at least one mirror in the room. Other than that, thank you!

My locker was broken open but nothing was stolen. A relief but doesn't give any sense of security. Otherwise enjoyed stating there very much.

By far one of the best hostel I've stayed in. Very friendly atmosphere, great staff, super clean and stunning view of Endinburgh castle. I can't think of anything negative about my stay, even the weather was cooperating!

Brilliant hostel, staff is friendly and very helpful when it comes to letting you know what's going on in the city. There's nice social atmosphere in the common areas, but plenty of quiet corners to sneak off to with a book if you'd prefer. Free coffee/tea/cocoa is a godsend on those rainy Edinburgh days--as is the cheap laundry service. Location couldn't be better, sandwiched as it is between the Royal Mile and the Grassmarket area. Definitely hope to stay here again!
