Super cool, nice atmosphere and common rooms!!

The hostel is in a great spot at the top of the Royal Mile next to the castle. It's very easy to find, and once you get there you won't be disappointed! Everyone I met there (travellers and employees) was very friendly and helpful, and the hostel was very tidy and well run. I felt safe coming and going from the hostel at night and appreciated the female-only room. Thanks for a great visit!

i stay with my friends in the 4 mix room which was newly decroated, full of fun and clean, the only problem is a little bit small but i dont mind. the bathroom was fantastic clean and decent. there are big kitchen , huge common place and moive room which were all great.

Great hostel and fun place to stay. Got there early and they stored our bags for us which was great. Everything was very clean and kept up. We had a private room which was very small but for one night was just fine. Would definitely recommend this hostel to other travelers.

This is a large well run hostel, with great character. Fantastic location. We stayed in a private room, which was modern and clean. The hostel is well designed so that the social atmosphere in the hostel common room does not unnecessarily intrude into the sleeping areas - which are well away (though can't vouch for the dorm rooms). The staff were generally friendly and helpful.

Open, warm, and welcoming. Felt like home! Bunk beds were hard to scale when drunk though! :)

Loud, inconsiderate Spanish longstayers a big, big nuisance, otherwise ok.

It was very good to be there. I will come back if I will go to Edinburgh again.

Great place, amazing location between the castle and the grassmarket. Has a great atmosphere and amazing common rooms, my only complaint is that the internet is awful. Would be nice if they had a couple of computers/laptops for guest to use as well.

We loved staying at this hostel! There were lots of fun things to do and places to go in the hostel (posh lounge, groovy lounge). The rooms were safe and comfortable, the location was top notch.

Being a first-time hostel user, I was a bit anxious about booking. I was instantly pleased by this place! Pros-Clean rooms, common areas, and bathrooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Three different common areas to suit anyone; one for quiet reading, one for music listening, one for eating, relaxing and socializing. There is also a kitchen and movie room. Free tea/coffee/hot chocolate were an added plus. Internet provided was decent. Cons-Doors had to be slammed shut (no door handles on outside)

we stayed in a 4 bunk room ,new at the top, very clean and showers were excellent new as well.have stayed here a few times and would again many thanks.

Great common areas!

The good: The view from the Castle Rock Hostel is as amazing as the pictures show. The hostel itself is a nice place, many differing common rooms, all of which were clean and welcoming. Full kitchen, which as nice and free coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The bad: Breakfast was extra and only worth it if you got the cereal for around 70p. The wifi is nearly unusable after about 2pm, too many people using it and not enough bandwidth. Very thin mattress on the bed,it was more like a thick mat.

Perfect for travellers between 19-24 but a bit much for anyone older / looking for a calm experience.
