This is an excellent hostel. All the staff were lovely, and the living areas were the best i've ever experienced.

Rooms were clean & comfortable, electric sockets next to every bed which is useful, bunk beds weren't squeaky, however they are difficult to get into in the dark after a few beers... and there is no rail on top bunk so easy to roll over and fall out! I didnt however.... The location was great, front door looks out onto Ediunbugh castle, some nice restaurants and pubs nearby.

It was excellent. The only problem was smallness of the room and when we arrived the hostel the sheet were dirty, but after telling them about the sheets they changed immediately.

Hi, Thank you so much for being this hostel. I really enjoyed myself. I had 2 small problems. first the window in 45 rattles, second, the toilets didn't always flush very well. However, I greatly enjoyed the staff and the hot chocolate. I also made some good friends here. Thanks again.

This has been the best hostel I have stayed at yet. It's lively, safe, clean and excellent value. I recommend this hostel wholeheartedly. As a solo traveler, safety with good value is imperative and this hostel served both those needs and exceeded my expectations. There are plenty of other young people there so it's easy to make friends and the hostel hosts free walking tours around Edinburgh and offers many activities. The rooms are clean and comfortable with safe boxes and lockers in each room

It would have been better if there are chairs in the rooms. But it was great location, and has a very nice common room.

Good Hostel. Bed not very easy and sometimes cold water in the showers. But I loved the cinema room and the huge kitchen !

I defenately recommend this hostel. Location is excellent, just in front of edinburgh castle. the place is clean and the staff is friendly. the showers are the best i've ever seen in any hostel. the only negative part were the matresses. they're too thin and kinda old. but other than that, nothing to complain. would defenately stay there again.

Really great hostel. Amazing location, heaps of common areas, staff are lovely and free pub crawl is a fantastically filthy good time. Rooms are lovely and spacious too. The only thing we could fault was that beds were a bit uncomfortable, it's a foam mattress on a wooden slab (at least in our 4 person dorm) and we woke up with sore backs most mornings. Everything else was so good though it didn't matter!

The rooms and bathrooms were clean and nice. The shower is one of the best I've had. Great communal space.

Pro: The location is perfect, it is in front of the castle, this hostal is a castle that's why you'll feel different staying there, rooms are huge and staff friendly. Against: linen a little bit old, some spots on carpets, mixed bathrooms and only two power points in a room of 14 people

Excellent location - everything within walking distance - and by the far the best hostel I stayed at in Europe. Edinburgh castle is right outside the door along with the Royal Mile and the Elephant House is just a few blocks away. Staff was very helpful in pointing us to good food late at night. Genuinely a good time - wish we'd stayed longer!

Lovely hostel but FREEZING in December! My biggest complaint is that there was never hot water for a shower. Ice cold water came out for 10 minutes, in the morning and evening, three times I tried. I complained to the staff and they told us that they "had just turned the heat on" and that it should be warm soon, but it wasn't. There was a window in our room that was not air-tight, making our room very cold with an eerie whistle from the wind. We requested more blankets which were supplied.
