Castle tam is really one of the best values in Costa Rica. The staff is friendly and willing to help whenever available. I think this area is really the best part to be in San Jose. You are a 5 min walk to the University, so plenty of cheap food and drinks are available which pales in comparison to the rest of CR! $9 for a dorm room with its own curtain and outlet plus a huge pancake is tought to beat! The place isnt as clean as say a 5 star hotel but hey its Central America, Pura Vida!

We had the private room with ensuite. Cons: The last occupants hair still in the drain. Toilet seat was cracked. Pros: Good shower, big bathroom. Good wifi. Close to the mall. Friendly staff and the pancakes were amazing!

I dug the hell outa this place, and I'm a man who has been to a butt ton of hostels. Ill stay another night or two before leaving Costa Rica. Bring on the free morning pancakes.

Hey it was a blast to have you stay with us. Come again soon.

This place wasn't too bad, but it has Roaches, lots of roaches, I left 1 day early because of this issue. Other than that, the people were nice.

Best location in san pedro region. close to la calle and roots reggae bar. the staff is really nice and when we had to leave a day early we got our money back.

I would not stay in this hostel again. The stuft was really friendly, but there was a Rat running in the house, blankets and sheets were dirty and you had to put it yourself. The more the walls are that thin that you hear every person walking vor showering. So sleeping can be dificult...

Very nice hostel, you will have your own outlet and light by the bed and also each bed has a curtain which is nice and more comfortable. The staff is friendly and very helpful!

Super nice hostel! Nice staff and a cool atmosphere to it. The only problem is that it's a bit out of down town... Yet again it's located at a nice neighborhood with a mall and cinemas in. Wouldn't go there again but definitely recommend it

Friendly hostel with very good staff.

The hostel was dirty, had rats and cockroaches in the kitchens...

If there was a problem with cleanliness it was never reported while this guest was there and we do not agree with this person's remarks. She stayed five days. If there was that big of a problem I would ask her why she did not leave on Day 2? I hope others will look at reviews other than this one when making their decision on where to stay.

great hostel. friendly and helpful staff. clean and cute. my only negative comment would be the mattress was really thin and I could feel the metal bars on my back on the bunk. otherwise, everything was great.

Decent enough hostel. Staff very helpful. Would stay there again. Comfortable dorm bed with separate light & curtain. Had to leave early in the morning so am unable to. Moment on the breakfast

Staff was not too helpful in terms of what to do and how to do it. The showers were awesome an the bed setups nice. Breakfast was great too...pancakes:)

Friendly staff. If you want a good sleep than stay here. It looked sketchy but quickly found out it's the opposite after going down town San Jose one night.

Good place close to the university so it's close to lots of bars and restaurants. Safe to venture out and staff are very helpful
