Good and cheap. A bit of a hike into town but not bad. Good for the price

Lovely staff and nice big room with soft bed. No hot water though and furthest up the hill from town.
Lovely owner. Remember Catba Central Hostel or Catba Hostel Downtown for your next. Very helpful, we got a private twin even though we booked a dorm.
Wahrscheinlich nicht die beste Wahl bei der Vielzahl von Angeboten in Cat Ba.
Really great hostel with lovely staff. A little walk out of the main town but very easy to get to. Close to fort cannon and some great restaurants. Some of the rooms are hot and some are quite cold so check before you confirm your room if that bothers you. Personal fans are provided which is excellent!
Located up a hill off of main drag, a bit of a walk... Staff was alright, not overly friendly. Overcharged for coffee, thought I was ordering Vietnamese coffee -instead Nescafé on ice (yuk). Room and facilities mostly clean and comfortable. But try to get bed that isn't pushed up to next divided by curtain -too close. Overall good value for price, average Nam hostel.
We stayed there only for one night in a double bed private room. The room was big and clean, no lockers, there was a window beside the room-door, which could have been easily opened by other guests. A/C, towels, NO LOCKERS, staff was friendly but not really helpful. Location: a little out of the center, you must walk up the hill.
unfortunately this is really one of two hostels on the island, but there are a million hotels/guesthouses on the same road. it was your basic hostel, beds were okay, bathroom fine. however we were kicked out after a night as a ton of locals had come in and requested the rooms. we were treated rather rudely and pushed out, and when sitting down to our paid breakfast were told to move outside (put a table on the street) so the other guests could use the main lobby for their meal.
Quite a way up the hill away from the main drag, which could be a good or bad thing depending how you look at it. Staff are helpful enough. Food is distinctly average. Room was clean, each bed in the dorm has its own fan, light, locker and charging point which is really good. They join two bunks together which can be a bit cosy/annoying if the guy next to you has his fan blowing right on the separating curtain but that's not really the hostel's problem. Communal area/restaurant hardly used.
Nice tv in room with English movie channels. Good for a brief one night stay.
Each bed had a personal fan, light and outlet which was great!
Average hostel, the dorms are well equipped with outlets and personal lamps.
Admittedly this place is very cheap but of course that means corners are cut. No top sheets - just a bare blanket, so not very hygienic. No wifi in the room, which is not really an issue until they kick you out of the lobby because the receptionist wants to sleep...
