Felt under alot of pressure when on their organised tour on first day - i constantly asked driver (brother of woman who worked in hostel) not to take me to perfume shop, carpet shop etc and he still did. It was not enjoyable and was very expensive. I didn't want to go on camel ride and he forced me into it- i was on my own so maybe too easily intimidated. It was obvious that he was bringing me to all his friends shop & i was VERY uncomfortable with him all day

I love it here so much that I have actually been here over two months! Everybody here is wonderful and makes you feel like you are part of a family. The hostel itself is clean and well kept, with several types of rooms to chose from. I recommend the Cecilia hostel to anyone looking for a cultural experience that you would never find at the larger hotel chains. Very helpful and knowledgable staff can set up any tours u need. Absolutely wonderful place to stay. Gonna miss everyone here, Simba too!

We had an excellent experience at Cecilia Hostel. The staff was friendly, spoke English, and even went out at night to get falafel and potatos for us! They offer help with tours but did not push the tours too much. Cecilia\'s staff made our stay in Cairo more enjoyable, thanks so much!

This was our first stop on our trip and we were glad we chose the hotel. The room was large, quirky bathroom but the staff was absolutely excellent. They helped us with so many things and it was great to sit and have a ciggie and tea with Waleed for hours in the evening. The tours were good, if you get the chance make sure you ask for Achmed the driver. He was the friendly driver we've ever had, smiled pretty much the whole time and even bought us chocolate. Definately be staying again.

Great place to spend a couple of nights in Cairo, the staff is very friendly and welcoming, the bathrooms are clean and the breakfast is ok, though like in all Egypt earplugs are a must, the location is excellent and very safe. If I'm back in Cairo I would def. Stay at Cecilia Hostel again. :)

Cecilia was great! Great staff who are always willing to help in any way to create the best experience for us. Tours organized though Cicilia were always fairly priced and with helpfull friendly guide & the tea and turkish coffee was always a plenty. Location in Downtown is great, with 10EGP getting you most places in the city. Happy Days!

I stayed 1 night at Cecelia. The location is very good, being just down from Midan Sadat & overlooking AUC. Walk past KFC etc, & look UP & RIGHT across from the library. The rooftop cafe is splendid, the staff very friendly, breakfast fine, the room very nice & clean, & tea & coffee always to be had.I had a fan in the room.Perhaps I am just picky, but the bathroom/toilets, though clean, were communal/unisex & all together, but if that does not bother you, this hostel is exceptional value.Recommended

The ensuite bathroom is a bit small (built into a corner of the room), but that's really the only bad thing I can say. Excellent otherwise.

I can only say great things about the Cecilia hotel and its amazing staff. All the staff were wonderful and truely made me feel like I was part of a family. They also help book outings to many sites in Egypt with only trusted agencies. The hotel is quiet, clean, small and safe. They offer a complimentary breakfast, which is delicious, on their beautiful open air common area over looking the city (its on the top floor). I would stay here again in a heartbeat and I recommend this hotel highly! :D
