Very friendly staff! Tons of fun! The hostel itself isn't loud but the fact that it's surrounded by 4 clubs is loud. Free earplugs though. Comfy beds, clean, Sky TV, big kitchen, great heated patio area, free wifi. My room door didn't lock which was concerning but there were lockers to put valuables in. I would totally recommend this hostel!

The staff, location and set up of the hostel was absolutely the best I've seen. There is free wireless internet and a robust breakfast included in the very reasonable price of the room. The hostel exuded a feeling of welcome and friendliness.

Quite basic. Showers a bit weak but apart from that the staff were very helpful and friendly.

A really welcoming hostel, occupied with lots of long-termers who make you feel like one of the family. A great back deck for having a beer before heading out (or to bed). Great location, just a short walk into the centre. Beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were clean. The place is in need of a new coat of paint, but its vibe more than makes up for it. Wonderfully cheap laundry service too, which was greatly appreciated.

Almost as soon as I arrived it felt like being at home, rather like being in a room in a flat than in a hostel! The staff is so great!

JUST PERFECT! The location is really central, it couldn't be better. Everything is clean and bedrooms are pretty spacious for a hostel. Internet is free and the connection is among the fastest I've seen in hostels so far. The staff is outstanding, special thanks to Chelsea for the free towel ;-) Will definitely come back, 110% recommendation!

Brilliant location though noisy at night, hence free ear plugs, helpful staff, though aree anoying staircases have to drag suitcases up at entrance, ilots ofnteresting people. Looks grubby but thats a hostel for you and not a 5 star hotel lol.....only major issue i have now concearn is the hygiene there though looked clean, however after three days there have developed scabies which i believe came from there since is busy and bedroom is full of people etc so always in contact with someone

I was under-impressed with this hostel. The beds were comfy enough but the noise was too much for me. Our room backed onto the patio and there were people drinking and partying outside our window until quite late. It wouldn't have been so bad if our windows closed properly but they were open a crack even when you closed them so they didn't block out the cold or the noise. They do provide ear plugs, but it wasn't the bar that got me.

Central Backpackers may not be the cheapest of backpackers' hostels, but for the little extra you may pay it is well worth it. The operators take the trouble to know guests on a first name basis, and run a relaxed but tight ship. It's more a small friendly community than a lodging house. Absolutely first rate.
