The staff were always really helpful with bus time tables. Linen was free which it isn't in other Tasmanian hostels and there were heaters in the rooms which were spacious. Perhaps the main draw back it the 2 flights of stairs just to get to the reception. But it's not that bad. If staying in Hobart you wont go far wrong staying here.

Friendliest staff I have ever encountered at a hostel. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. Very homey atmosphere. Only complaint would be that there is really no place to lock up your valuables, and the showers got cold quick due to a small hot water heater. Those things were negligible when compared to the great location, people, and atmosphere at Central City.

Thank you for your honest and open comments. Thank you for your constructive criticism - our lockers should be here within a month (your comment is the final decider for us) and we have the plumber on his way to check the bank of hot water cylinders (its possible one of the 6 is not working properly). So thanks again, we are acting on your comments and thank you for the compliments.

Thank so much for your recommendation to everyone! We are really happy that you enjoyed our hostel and thanks for recognising the free WiFi, tea & coffee and the stuff. We really do try hard to make our hostel friendly, easy, and a great price. Thanks again.

Receptionist on duty when I checked in was very rude Told me I should go find someone to get my suitcase up the stairs. For such a big hostel, there should be some sort of ramp facility to get baggages up to the hostel since it is located almost on the 3rd floor (hostels in Europe have that facility built along the stairway. Some lockers in rooms would be nice plus some written Instructions/directions to back exit for guests leaving before reception opens. Otherwise, it\'s a great hostel

This hostel is very good. Nice, clean and big kitchen. Comfortable beds and clean rooms. Nice staff, always helping you. Bathrooms are not modern but they are clean and have hot water. Directly in the city centre and supermarket Woolworths is just around the corner.

This hostel has a great location. the hostel itself is very run down and needs a good clean, the shared female bathrooms were pretty disgusting, no handwashing soap, paper towels or even bins in the cubicles. I has a single room , the curtain was hanging off and the desk in my room had not wiped it was filthy and sticky. The staff were average, some were polite others made no effort.I will not stay in this hostel again, and wouldnot reccomend ot to anyone.

thanks for providing bedding. common room was a good facility but the internet is way overpriced for someone without their own laptop unable to use the much advertised wifi. the room was tiny, despite being moved to a 'bigger' 4 bed dorm, there was hardly enough room for all out bags. friendly staff. close to restaurants and supermarket. would not stay here again. very noisy, especially loud music coming from down stairs. very cheap though, it did for one night.

The only thing against it is the stairs as I am nearly 80 I found it too hard to climb to the 3rd floor. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well. Many thanks Jean Smith

Unfortunately we booked 2 days otherwise we would have checked out after one night. Facilities were old, part of them not functioning (cold showers) and they weren´t cleaned in the 2 days. I doubt that it's necessary to charge extra money for handsoap in the toilets. Kitchen didn´t have enough cuttlery or good frying pans. Doubleroom was basic but ok.

The location is great. But that´s about it... staff is not very useful and the facilities are in need of major renovation.. They staff provided me with zero advise as to where to go, what to do, prices, places to eat, and how to get around (a first for me after a month of travel in Australia). They were not very informed.

Beautiful building but very run-down and very warm even with outside temperatures of 20 celsius. Re-doing the bathrooms, painting the rooms, hallways and new carpet would do the trick.

An over all nice hostel with friendly and helpful staff, not the best hostel I stayed at but not the worst either, cleanish kitchen (didn't use it too much) and big TV in the common room, warm water in the shower and not to crowded.
